Welder at The Boring Company – Bastrop, Texas

The Boring Company was founded to solve the problem of soul-destroying traffic by creating an underground network of tunnels. Today, we are creating the technology to increase tunneling speed and decrease costs by a factor of 10 or more with the ultimate goal of making Hyperloop adoption viable and enabling rapid transit across densely populated regions.
Our weld team is hiring for night shift (5P-5A), though shift flexibility is required. The schedule is currently 48-60 hours/week (12-hour shifts), and may include shifts on Sundays.
Responsibilities

• Welding assembly and fabrication on large-scale structures and assemblies
• Effective communication with management/supervisors and engineering staff
• Modification, repair, assembly, and installation of the tunnel boring machine
• Checking work after completion of each operation to ensure it meets drawing specifications
• Driving general shop equipment (forklifts, boom lifts, scissor lifts, etc.)
• Setting up welding equipment

Basic Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications (weld symbols)
• Experience with overhead cranes and forklifts
• Ability to weld in all positions and pass weld test (FCAW)

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Proficiency with various power tools such as drills, saws, and pneumatic die grinders
• Basic rigging skills
• OSHA certification
• Welding certifications
• Experience with GMAW, GTAW, Stainless Steel, Hardfacing
• Familiarity with various metal types and thicknesses
• Ability to work in confined spaces and/or elevated heights

Additional Requirements

• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. unassisted
• Ability to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
• Ability to travel for short and extended trips as needed.
• Ability to work outdoors in heavy construction areas.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
