Job Description

Position Description: Job Title: Robotics and FLL Program Coordinator
Location: Boys & Girls Club of Fitchburg & Leominster
Position Type: Part-Time, Temporary (Ends June 2025)
Job Summary:
The Robotics Program Coordinator will be responsible for implementing and managing a comprehensive robotics program at The BGCFL Clubhouse. The program will enable youth to learn about engineering, manufacturing, and technology while competing in local, regional, and national robotics competitions. The Coordinator will collaborate with the BGCFL team, supervise students, and integrate workforce development activities into the program.
Key Responsibilities:
Program Leadership:
  • Develop and implement a robotics curriculum that includes competition preparation and career readiness.
  • Organize and supervise team meetings, practices, and events.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Competition Preparation:
  • Guide students through competition rules, strategies, and technical skills.
  • Oversee the design, building, and programming of robots.
  • Ensure competition deadlines and requirements are met.
  • Mentor and advise students during FIRST Robotics competitions.
Workforce Development Integration:
  • Facilitate industry exposure through guest speakers, job shadowing, and tours of local manufacturing facilities.
  • Administer the MASSCIS interest survey to all program participants.
  • Support students career exploration and skill development aligned with workforce grant objectives.
Administrative Duties:
  • Maintain accurate attendance, participation, and progress records.
  • Submit required reports for the workforce development grant.
  • Collaborate with Boys & Girls Club staff and community partners to enhance program offerings.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of a Bachelors Degree or relevant experience in STEM fields.
  • Experience in robotics, engineering, programming, or STEM education.
  • Familiarity with FIRST Robotics and FLL competition frameworks.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and motivate high school students.
  • Preferred Skills:
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and coding principles.
  • Experience in curriculum design and classroom management.
  • Proficiency in block-based coding and design tools (e.g., Solidworks).
  • Ability to manage budgets, grants, and sponsor relations.
