Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of mechanical engineers responsible for primary and secondary structures and mechanisms.
  • Coordinate day-to-day engineering activities, priorities, and schedules across the team.
  • Establish and maintain engineering tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Review and approve technical deliverables, including CAD models, engineering drawings, analyses, and test reports.
  • Develop mechanical designs, perform engineering analyses, and create test plans to verify system performance.
  • Execute and oversee testing, analyze results, and document findings.
  • Manage suppliers and vendors to procure components while meeting quality, cost, and schedule objectives.
  • Present technical and programmatic status to internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience designing structural components, mechanisms, and mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability (DFM).
  • Proficiency with CAD software, product lifecycle management (PLM) tools, and finite element analysis (FEA).
  • Experience designing and analyzing hardware for harsh environments, including vibration, shock, and acoustic loading.
  • Self-motivated and able to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with minimal supervision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Experience leading engineering projects and mentoring or managing technical teams.
  • Experience developing hardware for aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles.
  • Demonstrated experience leading products from concept through design, manufacturing, integration, testing, and qualification.
  • Expert-level knowledge in one or more of the following disciplines: mechanical design, structural analysis, or testing.
