About The Role
The Night Auditor plays a critical role in ensuring smooth overnight operations at the Front Desk while maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the hotel’s financial records. Working independently during late evening and overnight hours, this hourly, full-time position combines guest service, front desk operations, and basic accounting tasks. The Night Auditor is responsible for providing a welcoming, safe, and efficient experience for all guests after hours, while balancing daily transactions, preparing reports, and setting the hotel up for success the following day.
What You'll Do
- Greet and assist guests during check-in, check-out, and throughout their stay during overnight hours
- Perform nightly audit procedures, including balancing daily charges, payments, and postings for all departments
- Verify, reconcile, and correct discrepancies in guest folios and daily revenue reports
- Prepare and distribute daily summary reports for management, including occupancy, revenue, and audit findings
- Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, escalating issues as needed
- Monitor property security by controlling access to the building, observing surveillance systems (if applicable), and reporting unusual activity
- Process reservations, cancellations, and modifications received overnight in accordance with hotel policies
- Operate the front desk systems, including property management and payment processing systems, with a high degree of accuracy
- Manage the night shift cash drawer, reconcile cash and credit card transactions, and follow cash-handling procedures
- Complete end-of-day procedures, including closing batches and preparing documentation for accounting
- Ensure the lobby and front desk areas are clean, organized, and presentable at all times
- Coordinate with housekeeping and maintenance for early-morning room needs, issues, or emergencies
- Respond to emergency situations following established safety and security protocols
- Assist with wake-up calls, transportation arrangements, and general guest information requests
- Support other overnight operational tasks as assigned by the Front Desk Supervisor or Management
Qualifications
- Previous experience in front desk, hotel operations, customer service, or a related hospitality role preferred
- Basic understanding of accounting principles and comfort working with numbers and financial reports
- Proficiency with computer systems and ability to learn property management and reservation software
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry, cash handling, and recordkeeping
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, especially during overnight hours
- Strong problem-solving skills and sound judgment when handling guest issues and emergencies
- Professional, courteous, and service-oriented demeanor with a focus on guest satisfaction
- Reliable and punctual with the flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Ability to remain alert and focused throughout the night shift in a low-traffic environment
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform light physical tasks (such as lifting or moving items up to approximately 25 lbs), as required by the role
- Eligibility to work in the country of employment and ability to pass any required background checks in accordance with local laws and company policy
The pay range for this role is:
24 - 24 USD per hour(Home2 Suites Bozeman)
