Qualifications:

Education: Associate degree preferred

Credentials: Valid NY State Driver License and access to a reliable vehicle

Experience: Two years of experience in job development, marketing, or similar types of service Relevant combination of experience and education will be considered

General Description

Under general supervision the Job Developer is responsible for creating and maintaining partnerships with employers to develop job and internship opportunities for individuals. Assists both employer partners and individuals with understanding the Employment Training Program, and Pre-Vocational services that are offered. This role also involves assessing clients' employment needs, skills, and interests, and matching them with suitable job openings or internships. The Job Developer will work closely with Employment Specialist and their individuals to establish relationships to build a career opportunity for the individuals that best fits their needs and wants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Employer Outreach

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with employers in various industries.
  • Identifies and develops job opportunities that match the skills and interests of individuals seeking employment support.
  • Build partnerships with community organizations, educational institutions, and training providers.
  • Advocates for individuals’ employment needs and work to reduce barriers to employment.
  • Attend job fairs, networking events, and community meetings to promote job placement services.
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of labor market trends and employment practices.
  • Prepares and distributes job orders to staff regarding the available job opportunities.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop and improve job placement opportunities.
  • Markets individuals to employers.
  • Learns the eVero database system for recordkeeping and billing purposes.
  • Write daily notes in a timely manner.
  • Mileage report daily.
  • Work a flexible schedule based upon the businesses, and network events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Matching & Placement

  • Promotes early employment and retention.
  • Works with Employment Specialist to match individuals to suitable job opportunities.
  • Conducts assessments to determine individuals’ skills, interests, and employment goals.
  • Provides employment preparation support along with ongoing evaluation and support for both individual and employer partners.
  • Arrange interviews between individuals and potential employers.
  • Follows-up with employers and individuals to monitor job placement success, challenges and address any barriers and issues.
  • Maintains accurate records of job placements, and follow-ups.
  • Prepare regular reports on job development activities and outcomes.
  • Create connections with businesses to create internships for individuals to learn job readiness skills.
  • Coordinate with other agencies to encourage- all-inclusive hiring practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Coordinates activities with supervisor and OPWDD/employment services staff as applicable.

  • Actively interacts with Employment Team to provide coordinated employment services to individuals.
  • Attend all required meetings.
  • Participate in relevant Agency meetings and/or training courses.
  • Actively pursues development of professional competencies related to job performance through reading, supervision, in-service training and attendance at conferences and workshops.
  • Awareness and active support of the Agency's Mission, Vision, Values and Strategic Plan. Including, but not limited to, supporting the Agency's Core Competency initiatives of being Collaborative and Community Focused, Innovative and Entrepreneurial, and Culturally Competent and Diverse
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

  • Ability to prioritize assignments, plan, and complete work projects with minimal direction
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to effectively and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal/written skills
  • Ability to work in the following software programs: Windows, Microsoft Office, and multiple online software platforms as required by funders and partner organizations
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle confidential information with discretion
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors and attitudes which support organizational mission, philosophy, and policies
  • Ability to work in a cooperative and helpful manner with all individuals
  • Willingness and ability to foster agency and program wide cooperation and teamwork through use of positive/constructive communication techniques
