JOB SUMMARY: The Router plans and optimizes daily delivery routes to support safe, efficient, and on-time customer deliveries. This role balances driver workloads, coordinates order priorities with warehouse operations, responds to service issues, and communicates route changes to drivers and dispatch personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, sequence, and optimize daily delivery routes based on customer delivery windows, order volume, equipment capacity, driver availability, and geographic efficiency.
- Creating truck routes within the warehouse management system for the night shift to pick and process.
- Balance route assignments and driver workloads while considering legal drive time, route complexity, stop count, and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams regarding order priorities, loading sequence, route readiness, and time-sensitive deliveries.
- Review orders and routing data for accuracy, including addresses, delivery instructions, service times, equipment needs, and special requirements.
- Adjust routes in response to customer service issues, late orders, driver call-outs, equipment problems, traffic, weather, or other operating disruptions.
- Communicate route assignments, changes, delivery priorities, and special instructions to drivers, dispatchers, warehouse personnel, and management.
- Monitor route execution and support dispatch with delivery updates, issue resolution, and service recovery action as needed.
- Maintain accurate routing records and assist with reporting on route miles, stops, delivery performance, and routing efficiency.
- Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirement:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in logistics, transportation, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in routing, dispatch, transportation, delivery operations, or a related distribution role preferred.
- Proficiency in routing or dispatch software, mapping tools, and Microsoft Office applications; knowledge of DOT hours-of-service rules preferred.
