Compensation:$18.50 - $22.50 hourly
Responsibilities:
Welcome and prepare patients for their physician examination
Obtain and document accurate medical and ocular histories
Measure visual acuity and perform basic ophthalmic testing
Obtain intraocular pressure measurements
Perform pupil examinations and other clinical assessments
Perform diagnostic testing based on physician orders and patient needs
Assist with imaging and testing such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and other ophthalmic diagnostics
Prepare patients for injections, procedures, and examinations
Assist physicians during patient examinations and procedures
Document accurate and complete information in the electronic medical record
Scribe and/or document physician examinations as trained
Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment
Communicate professionally and compassionately with patients and families
Follow HIPAA, OSHA, infection-control, and other compliance requirements
Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient clinical environment
Work collaboratively with technicians, scribes, front desk staff, physicians, and leadership
Qualifications:
- Prior experience as in a medical assisting role performing administrative duties or similar position in a healthcare work environment is preferred
- Great communication and customer service skills
- Graduated from high school or received GED
- Possesses basic computer skills to complete administrative tasks
- Must have completed an accredited medical assisting program and a supervised externship in a healthcare setting
