JOB OVERVIEW
The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional hospitality by providing knowledgeable, attentive, and efficient food and beverage service while creating a welcoming and engaging guest experience. Under the direction of restaurant leadership, the Bartender prepares alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, serves guests in accordance with My Neighbor Felix service standards, maintains a clean and organized bar environment, and supports overall restaurant operations through teamwork, professionalism, product knowledge, and responsible alcohol service. The Bartender is expected to build genuine guest relationships while contributing to an energetic atmosphere and consistently delivering memorable dining experiences.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet guests promptly and professionally while providing friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive service throughout their dining experience.
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in accordance with Company recipes, responsible alcohol service requirements, and My Neighbor Felix quality standards.
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of food menus, beverage offerings, cocktails, beer, wine, spirits, seasonal features, and daily specials to confidently answer guest questions and make recommendations.
- Accurately receive, enter, prepare, and deliver guest food and beverage orders while maintaining speed, accuracy, and attention to detail.
- Verify guest age and identification in accordance with all federal, state, local, and Company responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Monitor guest alcohol consumption and exercise sound judgment by refusing service, involving management, or taking other appropriate action when necessary to promote guest safety and legal compliance.
- Prepare beverages consistently according to established recipes, presentation standards, portion specifications, and Company procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar by replenishing liquor, beer, wine, mixers, garnishes, glassware, ice, and other operational supplies throughout each shift.
- Operate the point-of-sale system accurately by entering orders, processing payments, handling cash and credit card transactions, and completing guest checks in accordance with Company procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness of bar tops, service wells, sinks, refrigeration units, equipment, shelving, storage areas, and guest-facing bar areas while complying with all sanitation and food safety standards.
- Work collaboratively with Servers, Food Runners, Bussers, Bar Backs, Culinary Team Members, Hosts, and Managers to provide seamless service and support overall restaurant operations.
- Communicate effectively with restaurant leadership regarding guest concerns, product shortages, equipment issues, maintenance needs, and operational priorities.
- Complete opening, running, and closing side work, including stocking, cleaning, polishing glassware, preparing garnishes, organizing workstations, and preparing the bar for the next service period.
- Protect Company assets by following all cash handling, payment processing, liquor control, and responsible alcohol service procedures.
- Maintain accurate knowledge of Company promotions, events, loyalty programs, and featured menu offerings to enhance the guest experience.
- Attend pre-shift meetings, menu tastings, beverage trainings, and departmental meetings; retain and apply current product knowledge, service standards, safety procedures, and Company policies.
- Protect guest privacy and Company confidential information, including guest preferences, payment information, recipes, pricing, and proprietary operating procedures.
- Present a polished appearance in the complete approved uniform and demonstrate respectful, composed, and professional conduct with guests, coworkers, vendors, and leadership.
- Accurately report all tips and participate in the location's lawful tip-pooling and tip-sharing procedures as communicated by the Company.
- Perform other duties and support other front-of-house service positions as assigned based on business volume and operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education / Certifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Must meet all legal age requirements for serving alcoholic beverages and maintain any food-handler, alcohol-service, or other certifications required by law or Company policy.
Experience
- Previous serving experience in a full-service restaurant required; upscale, high-volume, Mexican-inspired, or cocktail-focused restaurant experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated experience managing multiple tables, coursed dining, guest payments, and service recovery in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge / Skills
- Strong working knowledge of professional table service, restaurant sequence of service, point-of-sale systems, cash handling, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service.
- Ability to learn and retain detailed culinary and beverage information and explain it in clear, guest-friendly language.
- Excellent verbal communication, listening, organization, judgment, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks, remain calm under pressure, and use tact in stressful or emotionally charged guest situations.
- Ability to read and understand menus, recipes, guest checks, POS screens, written instructions, allergy notes, and training materials in the language(s) required to perform the role safely and effectively.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

- Stand and walk for prolonged periods throughout preparation, service, and closing duties, frequently traveling throughout the dining room, bar, kitchen, and service areas.
- Frequently bend, reach, balance, stoop, crouch, grasp, and use repetitive hand and wrist motions to operate POS equipment, carry service ware, and perform side work.
- Lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds, including trays, racks, chairs, tables, beverage containers, and small equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Safely balance and carry trays containing food, glassware, and beverages in crowded and dimly lit conditions.
- Hear and communicate effectively in a busy environment with music, kitchen noise, and multiple simultaneous conversations.
- Work indoors and outdoors in a fast-paced restaurant environment with exposure to heat, steam, sharp objects, hot plates, cleaning chemicals, wet floors, and varying temperatures.
- Work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, holidays, extended shifts, and periods of high business volume.
EMPLOYMENT EXPECTATIONS
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance and follow established call-off and scheduling procedures.
- Accurately record all time worked. Working off the clock is prohibited, and overtime requires advance authorization while remaining payable when worked.
- Comply with the My Neighbor Felix Employee Handbook, all training materials, Company directives, safety rules, dress and appearance standards, anti-discrimination and anti-harassment policies, confidentiality obligations, and all applicable laws.
- Immediately report workplace injuries, unsafe conditions, suspected harassment or discrimination, wage concerns, or other policy violations through the appropriate reporting channels.
- Remain free from impairment while working, on Company premises, or representing the Company.
SALARY & BENEFITS
Hourly Wage: USD $12.14 per hour
Classification: Non-Exempt; Tipped Position
My Neighbor Felix may apply the tip credit permitted by applicable law. The employee’s hourly wage plus tips must equal at least the applicable minimum wage. If earnings fall below that amount, My Neighbor Felix will pay the difference.
This is a non-exempt, tipped hourly position. Employees in this role participate in the Company's tip pooling and/or tip sharing program in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local law and Company policy. Tip distributions are based upon the Company's established tip pool procedures, which may be modified from time to time in accordance with applicable law.
