Summary:

The Program Director of Translational Research Education is crucial in developing, implementing, and managing educational programs on translational biomedical sciences research. This position involves overseeing and coordinating various curriculum design, instruction, student support, and program evaluation activities. The Program Director works closely with faculty, staff, and students to effectively deliver educational initiatives that foster knowledge and skills in translational biomedical research.

Scope: Schedule may vary to accommodate events for educational programs. The successful candidate will be required to work some nights and weekends. Travel (local, regional, and national) will be required. This position reports to the Director, Institute for Translational Sciences Operations.

Responsibilities:

• Participate in developing, reviewing, and enhancing the curriculum for translational biomedical sciences research education programs.
• Collaborate with faculty and experts to ensure program content aligns with current trends and advances in translational biomedical research.
• Oversee program administration, including scheduling of courses and activities.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of educational policies, regulations, and accreditation standards relevant to biomedical sciences research education.
• Aid in facilitating communication and coordination amongst faculty, ensuring consistency in program delivery and assessment.
• Work as part of the recruitment team for Ph.D. and MS programs to develop and implement student recruitment strategies to attract a diverse pool of applicants for each program in the Institute for Translational Sciences, Office of Educational Programs.
• Work with faculty, guide and support students throughout their educational journey, addressing academic and professional needs.
• Continue to evaluate student progress and implement appropriate interventions to ensure academic success and retention.
• As part of a team, establish and enhance mentoring programs, workshops, and networking opportunities to improve student engagement and career development.
• Participate in collecting and analyzing data to identify areas for program improvement and make evidence-based recommendations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to implement changes, enhancements, and innovations in response to evaluation findings.
• Foster collaborations with other educational institutions, research organizations, and industry partners to enhance educational opportunities and research collaborations.
• Aid in fostering a culture of collaboration with ITS CTSA and its partner institutions to support the growth and development of the workforce.
• Represent the program in relevant conferences, meetings, and professional organizations to stay abreast of emerging trends and foster collaboration.
• Ensure compliance with funding agency guidelines and regulations throughout the grant lifecycle.
• Monitor and track grant progress, including milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with research faculty, administrators, and stakeholders to develop and refine the strategic direction of translational research programs for trainees and scholars.
• Work closely with principal investigators to support their grant-related activities, including proposal development, project management, and reporting.
• Participate in project team activities such as meetings, communications, report generation, etc.
• Comply and assist with the enforcement of all guidelines and project-specific policies and procedures established by the project administration, institution, and/or sponsor.
• Manage the ITS Office of Educational Programs team.
• Create and manage program and project files, databases, and spreadsheets.
• Disseminate best practices among stakeholders.
• Adheres to internal controls and reporting structure.
• Performs related duties as required, including employee annual performance evaluations and compliance training as required by institutional guidelines.

• Must have demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, where multi-tasking and adherence to complex timetables are essential.
• Excellent organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven project manager/director with a strong foundation in constituent engagement, translational research, and advocacy relating to students.
• Experience bridging gaps and building relationships among groups/stakeholders.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Experience in grant writing, preparation, and management.
• Familiarity with educational accreditation standards and quality assurance processes.
• Proficiency in utilizing educational technology and learning management systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master's degree in education or higher education and five years of experience with a strong knowledge and understanding of translational biomedical sciences research.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in program development and management, preferably in an educational or research setting.
