Job Description
To provide vision, oversight, and coordination for all WINGS Safe House (shelter) operations, services, and Crisis Line functions for this 24- hour facility.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee, plan, implement and evaluate all components of the 24-hour Family Advocate services. Ensure that services are proactive, responsive, and comprehensive by conducting periodic assessments of services.
• Hire, supervise, and train staff interns and volunteers.
• Develop, implement, and monitor operational procedures and program policies and procedures in cooperation with Director.
• Oversee the teaching, modeling, and the development of life skills and support to survivors of domestic violence and their children.
• Supervise and develop staff’s professional development including; volunteers and interns and the integration of strengths-based perspective.
• Oversee guest arrivals and departures.
• Monitor and maintain a safe and healthy living environment for all WINGS guests, staff, interns, and volunteers and oversee property management issues by working with WINGS Facilities Team.
• Identify volunteer opportunities and communicate them to the Manager of Volunteer Services. Cultivate and maintain long term volunteer relationships.
• Provides direct services in the form of support groups, case management, crisis intervention, emotional support, and conflict resolution to on-site clients, provides crisis intervention counseling and referrals to callers, and provide clinical intervention and support to staff when necessary.
• Work closely with internal WINGS teams to ensure wrap-around services. Teach and/or assist in supervising the WINGS 40-hour domestic violence training and other classes that provide CEUs as required.
• Responsible for the maintenance of timely, accurate records including up-to-date client files, statistics report, and census.
• Collaborate with area agencies to identify and institute best practices.
• Work with Development/Admin staff to establish indicators and outcomes measures and ensure accurate data collection and reporting; ensure timely submission of all reports.
• Attend and participate in all required meetings and training courses.
• Immediately report child abuse to the Department of Children and Family Services as mandated by law and in accordance with agency procedures.
• Evening, weekend, overnight and holidays are required to ensure the complete staffing of our 24-hour facility.
• On-call for Safe House emergencies, staff questions and staff absences as needed.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred: 5-7 years’ work in social services field desirable or equivalent experience.
• Strong management and supervisory experience preferred.
• 40-hour domestic violence training preferred.
• CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
• ICDVP credential preferred.
• Experience with shelter services preferred.
• Bilingual skills (Spanish) preferred.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
• Possess the ability to work efficiently and independently and be highly organized with attention to detail along with strong project management, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Skilled in working with sensitive issues and in maintaining professional boundaries with clients.
• Must demonstrate professionalism, flexibility, good judgment, and commitment to teamwork.
