Job Title: CDL Driver / Truss Delivery Driver
Department: Fortress Truss
Supervisor: Shipping & Receiving Coordinator / Production Supervisor
Summary
The CDL Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and professional delivery of roof trusses,
floor trusses, wall panels, and related building materials to customer job sites. This position
ensures loads are properly secured, delivered without damage, and unloaded safely while
providing excellent customer service and maintaining compliance with all DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities
• Safely operate CDL trucks and trailers in accordance with DOT regulations and company
policies.
• Transport trusses, wall panels, and building materials to customer locations.
• Inspect vehicles, trailers, and equipment before and after each trip.
• Secure loads using approved tie-down methods to prevent damage during transport.
• Verify delivery paperwork and obtain customer signatures as required.
• Communicate delivery status, delays, and job site conditions to dispatch and management.
• Assist with loading and unloading materials as needed.
• Maintain accurate driver logs, inspection reports, and delivery documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment.
Qualifications
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Clean driving record and ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Current DOT Medical Card.
• Experience operating tractor-trailers and delivering building materials preferred.
• Forklift experience preferred.
• Ability to read delivery documents, maps, and job site instructions.
• Strong commitment to safety and customer service.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Physical & Work Environment
• Frequent climbing in and out of trucks and trailers.
• Lifting, carrying, and securing materials up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Exposure to outdoor weather conditions year-round.
• Extended periods of driving and sitting.
• Walking on uneven terrain and active construction sites.
• Early morning start times and occasional overtime as needed.
Performance Expectations
• Deliver products safely and on schedule.
• Maintain a strong safety record with no preventable accidents.
• Ensure customer deliveries are accurate and damage-free.
• Complete required inspections and documentation accurately and on time.
• Represent Fortress Truss professionally at all customer and job site interactions.
