Wareroom Supervisor – Labeling

Opportunity

Morgan Foods, Inc. has a Wareroom Supervisor – Labelling opportunity available. This is a full-time, on-site supervisory role supporting plant floor operations, with the primary shift to be determined. The position generally follows a five-day schedule with 9-hour shifts, with flexibility required to support production demands, weekends, holidays, and operational needs.

Morgan Foods’ supervisors spend 85%+ of each shift in direct plant floor supervision activities. This role is eligible for premium pay after 45 hours worked per pay week.

Position Summary

The Wareroom Supervisor – Labelling is responsible for supervising daily wareroom, labeling, and packaging support activities to ensure safe, efficient, accurate, and compliant operations. This position provides direct plant floor leadership to union employees and helps ensure production schedules are met through proper staffing, material coordination, equipment readiness, and adherence to company standards.

This role works closely with Production, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Human Resources, Scheduling/Planning, and other departments to support operational attainment, food safety, quality, employee performance, and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Is a Safety Champion for organization – ensuring employees and work environment are safe.
  • Spend 85%+ of each shift on the plant floor directly supervising employees, processes, and assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Plan, assign, direct, and supervise daily activities of union employees to safely and efficiently meet production and department goals.
  • Coordinate staffing assignments and daily lineups to ensure proper wareroom, labeling, and packaging coverage.
  • Ensure employees are assigned only to positions for which they have been properly trained.
  • Supervise employees to ensure performance aligns with Company policies, OSHA requirements, food safety standards, quality expectations, PSOPs, SQF, GMPs, HACCP, HACQP, and applicable procedures.
  • Monitor labeling and packaging operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and company requirements.
  • Coordinate daily material needs, including labels, corrugated materials, shrink wrap, and other supplies necessary to support production.
  • Monitor start-ups, changeovers, downtime, waste, product loss, and area efficiencies; initiate corrective action when needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance to maintain food safety and quality standards, including labeling and can code verifications.
  • Maintain knowledge of and monitor applicable CQPs and CCPs within assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Initiate corrective actions when CQPs or CCPs fall outside of critical limits.
  • Work collaboratively with Maintenance to minimize equipment-related downtime and support safe, efficient operations.
  • Work with Human Resources and department leadership regarding hiring, onboarding, training, employee relations, evaluations, discipline, and terminations.
  • Conduct labor and employee relations in accordance with Company policies, practices, and the Union contract agreement.
  • Understand and correctly administer applicable union contract provisions and participate in the grievance process as needed.
  • Schedule, review, correct, and approve employee time and attendance daily within the HRIS system.
  • Monitor shift operations through direct observation, checklists, and documentation to ensure operational efficiency, employee safety, and compliance.
  • Participate in quality, food safety, and safety audits by identifying and documenting nonconformances and supporting effective, sustained corrective actions.
  • Communicate effectively with employees, department personnel, and leadership regarding staffing, production attainment, equipment, materials, safety, quality, and operational needs.
  • Monitor and requisition supplies, equipment, and materials to ensure department efficiency and production attainment.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Six Sigma training or certification as needed or required.
  • Ensure all employees follow required plant policies, including coat, handwashing, allergen control, GMP, and sanitation requirements.
  • Ensure any empty or full can that falls to the floor, or is found on the floor, is discarded in accordance with Morgan Foods’ Allergen Control Program.

Physical Requirements

Supervisors primarily work in direct plant supervision and are expected to spend 7+ hours per 9-hour shift on the plant floor. The role requires the ability to frequently walk, stand, climb, twist, reach, bend, and use hands, fingers, and wrists to operate tools, machinery, equipment, and a computer keyboard. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. without assistance.

Environmental Requirements

Ability to work in the following environments:

  • Manufacturing Plant — primary work environment, not climate controlled, with variable temperatures.
  • Office — secondary work environment, climate controlled.

Communication Requirements

Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions, safety rules, quality standards, PSOPs, and company procedures. Must be able to communicate effectively with employees, supervisors, department leaders, and cross-functional teams to support safe, efficient, and compliant operations. Ability to complete required documentation accurately and timely.

Scheduling & Availability

Ability to work assigned shifts involving 9+ hours, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed. Flexibility is required to support production schedules, staffing needs, training requirements, and operational demands.

Education, Training, Skills, Experience, and Personal Attributes

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment within a union facility preferred.
  • Manufacturing experience required; food manufacturing experience strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in labeling, packaging, warehousing, production support, or material coordination preferred.
  • Ability to successfully complete HACCP, HACQP, SQF, and other required food safety or quality training.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification desired or ability to successfully attain certification as needed or required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Intermediate to advanced SAP or other ERP system experience highly desired
  • Intermediate math ability.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation and computer communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines in an environment with changing priorities.
  • Ability to work within a person-centered, collaborative approach.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience, training, and knowledge. Premium pay applies for all hours worked beyond 45 hours per pay week.
