Job Description
Occupational therapist needed for the Inpatient Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Unit. ***Anticipated Opening of Unit in 2027.
We are seeking an Occupational therapist with strong communication, empathy and communications. The right OT should have the ability to create a safe, engaging and therapeutic environment.
As an OT in our adolescent unit, you will conduct functional assessments to identify strengths, challenges, and treatment needs. Develop and implement individualized, goal-oriented treatment plans. Facilitate therapeutic group and individual sessions focused on life skills, emotional regulation, sensory integration, and coping strategies. Collaborate closely with interdisciplinary team to ensure holistic care and support discharge planning by preparing adolescents for successful transitions back to home, school, or community settings.
The primary role for this position will be in the Adolescent Inpatient Mental Health Unit. Secondary responsibilities will include cross training to other units of the hospital setting. This position may also have the opportunity for clinical supervision of Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants (COTA), rehabilitation aides and occupational therapy students.
Master’s or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. Valid Vermont state Occupational Therapist license required. National Board Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) required. Experience in mental health, preferably with adolescents, is strongly preferred.

SVMC rehabilitation is proud to offer services at our main hospital campus and our satellite offices (Northshire Medical Center, Deerfield Valley Health Center, Twin Rivers Medical, Orthopedic Hand Clinic). The rehabilitation program services patients of all ages with many specialty rehab services available, including but not limited to, vestibular therapy, hand therapy and lymphedema therapy. We are also home to Cardiac Rehabilitation and Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
