Cybersecurity Engineer Sr. Incident Response

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cybersecurity Engineer Sr. Incident Response based in United States.

This role offers the opportunity to protect a large-scale technology environment by leading advanced cybersecurity investigations, threat hunting, and incident response activities.
You will play a critical role in identifying risks, strengthening security controls, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of enterprise systems.
Working across security, technology, privacy, legal, and operational teams, you will help shape cybersecurity strategies and respond to complex threats.
The position requires a highly technical mindset, strong analytical abilities, and the confidence to manage security incidents in a dynamic environment.
You will contribute to cybersecurity projects, improve security operations, and provide guidance on emerging risks and best practices.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Cybersecurity Engineer will lead cybersecurity operations, incident response efforts, and security improvement initiatives across the enterprise. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with strategic thinking, requiring the ability to investigate threats, strengthen security processes, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide guidance on cybersecurity practices.

  • Lead complex cybersecurity investigations, threat hunting activities, and incident response efforts across enterprise environments.
  • Design, maintain, and improve cybersecurity systems, processes, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Assess security risks and recommend improvements to architectures, controls, and security services.
  • Protect the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of computing environments while enforcing security policies.
  • Participate in incident response activities, forensic reviews, and security investigations while maintaining strict confidentiality.
  • Monitor cybersecurity tools and services to identify vulnerabilities, risks, and operational issues.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership regarding cybersecurity policies, procedures, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Lead cybersecurity projects involving security reviews, vulnerability management, data protection solutions, remote access controls, product evaluations, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop security reports, metrics, and presentations to communicate risks and project progress to leadership.
  • Provide cybersecurity awareness training and presentations to large audiences.
  • Collaborate with privacy, legal, compliance, and external stakeholders when required.
  • Support teammates through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and mentoring.
  • Respond to security-related requests and ensure timely resolution of cybersecurity issues.
  • Provide after-hours support for security incidents, maintenance activities, and critical implementations when needed.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced cybersecurity professional with a strong background in incident response, security technologies, risk management, and enterprise security operations. This role requires advanced technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently while collaborating across diverse teams.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • 5+ years of progressive IT experience with cybersecurity exposure or direct cybersecurity experience.
  • Strong experience with cybersecurity frameworks, including NIST Cybersecurity Framework, NIST SP 800-82, PCI DSS, and HIPAA requirements.
  • Deep understanding of security technologies such as SIEM platforms, vulnerability scanners, firewalls, VPNs, proxies, secure email gateways, endpoint detection and response, data loss prevention, and risk management tools.
  • Experience with security protocols and standards including SFTP, TLS, SSH, AES, and related technologies.
  • Strong knowledge of identity, access management, remote access technologies, and enterprise security controls.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and developing effective solutions.
  • Ability to analyze risks, investigate incidents, and make sound security recommendations.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity operations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to changing environments, and deliver high-quality results.
  • Strong collaboration skills with the ability to work independently or as part of a security team.
  • Willingness to participate in occasional after-hours incident response and project support.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
