Job Title: Rehab Assistant/Environmental Services Tech Job Description (UTS)

Department: Rehabilitation Staff

Summary

The Rehab Assistant/Environmental Services Tech is responsible in assisting with the overall day to day functions of the clinic and assist with the overall safety and cleanliness of the clinical environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities, other duties may be assigned:

Cleanliness / Sanitization:

  • Assists with overall cleanliness of the clinical environment
  • Completes all tasks on cleaning calendar
  • Completes laundry and dishes for therapy use
  • Assists Leadership with clinic walk-throughs outside/inside and completes duties as assigned

Maintenance:

  • Keeping Maintenance Excel up to date and notifies Administrative Director or Leadership team that they have contacted outside assistance when needed (i.e. Electrician / Plumber / Handy Man)
  • Basic repairs of the clinic
  • In adverse weather, ensures the safety of our patients and staff by salting and shoveling entry ways.

Clinic/Office Operations:

  • Understands and complies with universal precautions, safety, and risk policies and procedures.
  • Assists with orientation of new staff, volunteers, and students
  • Assists with front desk duties including scheduling, taking payments, in compliance with HIPAA guidelines.

· Opens office and closes office as needed, following company procedure

  • Utilizes and maintains office and therapy equipment, requests supplies when necessary.
  • Completes shopping for necessary clinical supplies.
  • Orders office/cleaning supplies including postage
  • Performs clerical duties such as daily mail, inventory, answering phones, taking messages, filing/scanning, of various paperwork in all patient folders,
  • Completing discharge audits via EMR software or paper for therapy staff.
  • Participates actively on assigned clinical committees.

· Prepares mail/ postcards. Updates and follows postcard process.

  • Prepares evaluations and progress notes to be mailed, returned and resent as needed.
  • Immediately updates MSDS notebook with new products brought into the clinic
  • Manages expiration dates of all items with limited shelf life
  • Assists Administrative staff with team building activities
  • Performs annual inventory of therapy equipment and updates inventory in Inventory Builder and Excel inventory spread sheet.
  • Updates cleaning calendar as needed
  • Updates/creates RA procedures as needed

Patient Related Tasks

  • Completes set up and tear down of requested therapeutic equipment
  • Assists with therapy projects as requested by staff
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with the health care team, patient, and family.
  • Completes the preparation of requested set up and clean – up of requested food for Feeding Therapy
Qualifications
  • Skills & Proficiencies:

o Proficient in Microsoft Office and skilled in online research.

o Effective communication skills (both verbal and written).

o Ability to collaborate, prioritize, and manage multiple projects.

o Skilled in decision-making, problem-solving, and maintaining confidentiality.

· Must Frequently lift and/or move more 1-10 lbs. and 11-20 lbs. occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time).

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • The very nature of health care work indicates a potential exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Must be tolerant of working with patients who may be recovering from surgeries; illness and burn/cuts (open wounds.)
  • Exposure to bodily fluids such as blood and urine are not uncommon.
