This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Large Loss General Adjuster based in United States.
This role is responsible for managing complex residential and commercial large-loss property claims from initial investigation through final resolution.
You will work directly with policyholders, contractors, service providers, and internal stakeholders to assess damage and determine appropriate claim outcomes.
The position combines field expertise, construction knowledge, estimating capabilities, investigation, negotiation, and customer service.
You will need to respond quickly to loss locations and confidently manage claims involving significant property damage and complex coverage considerations.
Success requires a strong understanding of construction methods, permitting, reconstruction, damage assessment, and code-compliant estimating.
You will also contribute to subrogation, fraud investigations, dispute resolution, and other strategies designed to achieve sound business outcomes.

- Manage all aspects of residential and commercial large-loss property claims, from initial assignment and investigation through settlement and closure.
- Coordinate the measurement and evaluation of structural damage, personal property, loss of use, business interruption, and mitigation efforts.
- Conduct thorough claim investigations, including determining the origin and cause of losses and identifying potential coverage issues.
- Collaborate with management and relevant stakeholders to investigate and resolve complex coverage questions.
- Prepare accurate, code-compliant reconstruction estimates using Xactimate and other appropriate estimating tools, incorporating contractor information and competitive pricing research.
- Assess construction methods, repair requirements, permitting considerations, and reconstruction needs to support accurate claim valuations.
- Work closely with contractors, service providers, policyholders, and other parties involved in the claim resolution process.
- Explain estimates, coverage decisions, and settlement options clearly to customers while providing timely and professional service.
- Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of claim activity, investigations, communications, estimates, and resolutions through appropriate systems and communication channels.
- Support subrogation and fraud investigations, including identifying relevant opportunities and securing salvage or subrogation items when required.
- Utilize alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation, arbitration, and appraisal, when appropriate to achieve effective claim outcomes.
- Travel to loss locations on short notice to meet policyholders, contractors, and service providers and conduct on-site assessments.
- Maintain effective communication through phone, email, video conferencing, and other business channels throughout the claims process.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 8–10 years of overall claims experience, including substantial experience in both field and desk adjusting.
- 5–10 years of direct experience handling large-loss property claims.
- Extensive expertise in personal property losses, additional living expense claims, and complex residential and commercial property damage.
- Deep knowledge of construction processes, including permitting, reconstruction, repair techniques, construction methods, and damage assessment.
- Proven ability to prepare accurate, code-compliant reconstruction estimates using Xactimate or comparable claims estimating technology.
- Strong understanding of contractor relationships, service providers, competitive pricing, and claim-related repair requirements.
- Strong investigative and analytical skills, including experience identifying coverage issues, origin and cause considerations, fraud indicators, and subrogation opportunities.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, customer service, and conflict-resolution skills.
- Ability to use alternative dispute resolution techniques such as mediation, arbitration, and appraisal effectively.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, as well as claims management and estimating software.
- Ability to manage complex claims independently, prioritize competing demands, maintain detailed documentation, and make sound decisions.
- Valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and ability to travel to claim locations on short notice.
