About this Opportunity:

The Quality Inspector is responsible for performing in-process, first-piece, lot, and incoming inspections, as well as creating and maintaining quality records for Vander-Bend Manufacturing's Sheet Metal and Machining divisions.

The level at which a candidate is hired will be determined based on relevant inspection experience, technical knowledge, and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

• Prioritize inspections based on workload and job priorities.
• Perform receiving and incoming inspections of supplier products, including plating and custom-made parts, using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Perform in-process and first-piece inspections by checking products against blueprints, work orders, work order notes, and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Identify and communicate deviations found during inspection and, based on experience level, provide guidance to operators regarding why deviations may have occurred and how they may be corrected.
• Perform lot inspections on products ready to move to the next operation, verifying products against blueprints, work orders, notes, and other pertinent documentation using applicable measuring tools and test equipment.
• Create and compile quality records as defined by the Quality Management System and/or customer-specific requirements.
• Record inspection results in applicable systems, including Kebrite and/or Shopfloor software, linked to the Visual Manufacturing system.
• Support quality inspection activities for the Sheet Metal and Machining divisions, as applicable.
• Train, advise, and provide guidance to trainee or less-experienced inspectors, as appropriate based on experience level.
• Assist the Director of Quality in maintaining ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 certifications.
• Perform additional responsibilities or activities as required by the Quality Manager.

• Quality Inspector I: 1–3 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
• Quality Inspector II: 3–5 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
• Experience performing manufacturing quality inspections, including in-process, first-piece, lot, and/or incoming inspections.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
• Experience with general inspection methodology and metrology.
• Experience using precision measuring and inspection tools, including calipers, micrometers, height gages, and test indicators.
• Experience with Quality Management Systems and calibration.
• Experience working with ISO 13485 and ISO 9001 quality standards.
• Experience inspecting manufactured components, including plating and painting.
• Experience creating, compiling, and maintaining quality and inspection records.
• Experience working within sheet metal fabrication, metal fabrication, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T) is a plus

Physical Requirements:

Some assigned tasks for this position may involve Medium Work and some may involve Heavy Work as defined below:

1. Medium Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
2. Heavy Work: Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
