Food Service Manager in Columbia, South Carolina at Recovery Solutions of South Carolina, LLC

We are seeking a Food Service Manager to oversee daily Nutrition and Cafeteria operations and help ensure individuals served receive safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals. This role provides hands-on leadership for food service staff, production, sanitation, food safety, menu planning, purchasing, and compliance. What You’ll Do

• Oversee the daily operations of Nutrition and Cafeteria services, ensuring consistent, high-quality meal service.
• Lead and supervise food service staff, including orientation, training, work assignments, performance evaluations, and development.
• Ensure food is prepared, stored, handled, and served safely in accordance with HACCP guidelines, local health department requirements, and organizational standards.
• Oversee food quality assurance and sanitation practices throughout food production and service areas.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and compliant environment for individuals served, employees, and visitors.
• Plan menus and coordinate food procurement, supplies, and inventory, including appropriate first-in, first-out (FIFO) product rotation.
• Manage food service supplies, including food, paper products, chemicals, and other department needs.
• Monitor food service operations and implement corrective actions when needed to address health department or compliance findings.
• Serve as a point of contact with Health Department inspectors and help ensure the dietary department meets applicable requirements.
• Oversee food service and room setup for in-house functions, programs, and events.
• Provide and coordinate dietary staff in-services and ongoing training.
• Monitor the department budget and support responsible use of food service resources.
• Ensure food service operations meet applicable client, facility, licensing, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
• Work with Infection Control and other designated leaders to support compliance with bloodborne pathogen standards and other applicable health and safety requirements.
• Partner with site leadership and other departments to maintain effective food service operations and address department needs.

What We’re Looking For

Education

• Culinary degree, high school diploma, or equivalent (required).
• Bachelor’s degree (preferred)

Experience

• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in food service production within a hospital, military, commercial, or institutional setting (required).
• Five (5) years of experience may be required based on client contract.
• HACCP or equivalent food safety training (required).
• Two (2) years of experience as a Food Service Assistant Manager (preferred).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (preferred).

Licenses / Certifications

• Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) registration (required).
• ServSafe Manager Certification (required).
• Registered Dietitian (preferred).
