This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Fraud Risk Management & Operations (FRMO) Analyst based in United States.
This role is responsible for detecting, investigating, and helping prevent fraudulent and unusual activity across accounts, cards, and financial services.
You’ll review fraud alerts and monitoring reports, identify suspicious patterns, and determine the appropriate next steps based on established risk procedures.
The position combines transaction analysis, end-to-end case investigation, fraud mitigation, and detailed documentation.
You’ll work across multiple monitoring populations, products, systems, and fraud typologies while helping protect customers and reduce financial losses.
The role also involves card actions, escalation of higher-risk activity, and collaboration with specialized compliance teams when required.
Success requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, organized case management, and the ability to meet quality and same-day service standards.
This is an excellent opportunity to build hands-on experience in fraud operations within a financial services environment focused on financial inclusion and secure products.
- Review and triage Level 1 fraud alerts and monitoring reports across assigned populations, including ACH activity, card authorizations, potential fraud, velocity monitoring, multiple address/phone/SSN indicators, prohibited countries, and closed-account reviews.
- Establish expected activity profiles for accounts and products, compare observed activity against expectations, and identify patterns associated with known fraud typologies.
- Make and document appropriate triage decisions, including resolving alerts, consolidating activity into existing cases, taking immediate card action, or advancing matters to full investigation.
- Conduct end-to-end fraud investigations by gathering and analyzing account, transaction, device, and relationship data across multiple systems to confirm or rule out fraud, assess exposure, and reach a supported disposition.
- Perform core case investigation activities, including case build-out, evidence gathering, narrative documentation, analysis, and case closure.
- Identify potentially SAR- or CTR-eligible activity and prepare supporting documentation for referral to BSA/AML Operations for filing consideration and completion.
- Execute card actions such as blocking, unblocking, closing, and reissuing cards, while documenting the rationale, date, and system used.
- Maintain complete and timely records of reviews, analysis, decisions, and dispositions in Actimize and applicable tracking tools to standards suitable for regulatory, audit, and quality-assurance review.
- Escalate matters involving potential suspicious activity, terrorist financing, human trafficking, immediate attention, or imminent loss within required timelines and provide appropriate referral information.
- Handle inbound and outbound calls related to fraud monitoring, card status, and cardholder verification, completing all required after-call documentation.
- Maintain established service levels, productivity targets, quality standards, and compliance requirements across assigned workstreams.
- Collaborate with relevant compliance and operational teams when specialized review, escalation, or additional investigative support is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Typically less than two years of related professional experience, with exposure to fraud, payments, banking operations, financial services, or customer service.
- Foundational understanding of fraud risks and common typologies such as account takeover, first-party fraud, and card-not-present fraud is preferred.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when analyzing transactions, reviewing customer activity, and documenting investigative findings.
- Ability to manage a daily workload effectively while meeting same-day deadlines, SLAs, production expectations, and quality requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly document findings and communicate with customers and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable working independently with appropriate support and navigating multiple systems, monitoring reports, and investigative tools.
- Organized, reliable, and able to prioritize competing tasks in a structured, compliance-focused environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with sound judgment when determining whether activity should be resolved, escalated, or investigated further.
- Willingness to learn fraud detection processes, financial services operations, regulatory requirements, and emerging fraud patterns.
- Hourly salary range of $17.25–$28.00, with individual compensation determined by experience, qualifications, skills, and location.
- Annual performance-based incentive opportunity.
- Comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees.
- Health insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement benefits.
- Life insurance.
- Disability benefits.
- Paid time off.
- Opportunity to develop hands-on experience in fraud detection, investigations, payments, card operations, and financial services risk management.
- Exposure to multiple fraud monitoring populations, investigative systems, and fraud typologies.
- Opportunity to contribute to financial inclusion by helping protect customers and financial products from fraudulent activity.
- Remote-friendly working environment with opportunities to collaborate across a broader financial services organization.
- Inclusive workplace committed to diverse perspectives and equal employment opportunity.
