Job Description
Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour

Easterseals Florida's Explorer Academy is seeking a dependable, caring, and flexible Substitute Teacher / Teacher Assistant to support our early childhood classrooms during staff absences, vacations, and periods of high enrollment.
This is a great opportunity for individuals who are passionate about early childhood education and want the flexibility to work in different classrooms while helping children learn, grow, and thrive in a safe and nurturing environment.
Schedule: Hours will be scheduled between 7:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, based on program needs.

What You'll Do
As a Substitute Teacher / Teacher Assistant, you'll help maintain a positive learning environment and provide classroom support as needed. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Providing classroom coverage across multiple age groups
- Following lesson plans, daily schedules, and teacher guidance
- Supervising children and ensuring a safe learning environment
- Assisting with learning activities, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and daily routines
- Supporting children's social, emotional, and developmental growth
- Encouraging language development through meaningful conversations and open-ended questions
- Maintaining attendance records and classroom documentation
- Communicating professionally with families and team members
- Keeping classrooms clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety standards
- Adapting to various classrooms and serving as a positive role model
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities
- Performing other duties as needed to support program operations
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED required
- Experience working with young children preferred
- Experience supporting children with disabilities or special needs preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred
- Ability to complete Florida DCF 45-Hour Child Care Training within the first 90 days of employment
- Positive, patient, and nurturing approach when working with children
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible, dependable, and eager to learn
