Position Description

Job Summary:

The Front Loader Operator hands-on team member who keeps our asphalt plants supplied, organized and running safely. Based out of whichever plant needs coverage on a given day, the operator travels between our 5 Tri-Cities plant locations to run a front loader with bucket, forks and boom pole attachments. Duties include feeding aggregate to the plant, loading and unloading freight and materials, and keeping stockpiles, bins and yard areas orderly. Because plant production depends on a steady, correctly-sorted supply of material, this role directly affects production flow, product quality and the safety of everyone on site. The ideal candidate is a dependable, safety-minded operator who is comfortable adapting to different plant layouts, crews and daily priorities.

Job Duties:

  1. Operate a front loader with bucket to move, stockpile and feed aggregates and other bulk materials to plant bins and hoppers, loading the correct material in the correct bin or pile.
  2. Operate the loader with forks to unload incoming freight, load outgoing freight, and move pallets, supplies and materials in and around the plant facility.
  3. Operate the loader with boom pole to unload incoming freight, load outgoing freight, and move items in and around the plant facility.
  4. Safely change and secure loader attachments as needed for the task at hand.
  5. Work with scale house, plant operators, haul truck drivers and vendors to keep trucks loaded and moving without delays.
  6. Travel between assigned asphalt plants in the Tri-Cities area as directed by the superintendent, reporting on time and ready to work at each location.
  7. Keep equipment clean, fueled and well-maintained on an ongoing basis, and remove any unsafe equipment from service until it is repaired.

Position Requirements

Job Requirements:

  1. One (1) year of front loader operating experience required; asphalt, aggregate, quarry or construction plant experience preferred.
  2. High school diploma or GED preferred.
  3. Must pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen and background check.
  4. Must have valid transportation and a valid driver’s license, and be able to reliably travel between plant locations in the Tri-Cities area.
  5. Must be able to work overtime, early mornings and weekends as needed, particularly during peak paving season.
  6. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adapting to changing sites, crews and priorities.
  7. Ability to communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing, for equipment reporting and handoffs.
  8. Must be able to climb into and out of the loader cab and frequently sit for extended periods while operating equipment.
  9. Must be able to walk uneven ground, stand, bend and occasionally lift and carry items as required for inspections, cleanup and servicing.
  10. Must be able to work safely around hot materials, heavy equipment and haul truck traffic.
  11. Follow all company safety policies, site rules and applicable regulations, and wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
