POSITION SUMMARY:

A Lead Maintenance Technician is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise with supervisory responsibilities to ensure facilities, equipment, and systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards. The Lead Maintenance Technician is both a technical expert and a team leader, responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring that all maintenance activities meet quality and safety benchmarks.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provide daily maintenance oversight and team leadership supporting the Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost objectives for the manufacturing location.

o Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, including proper Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.

o Support production and new product introduction priorities, including assigning and prioritizing tasks and mentoring junior technicians to build their skills and ensure safety quality workmanship.

o Create, assign, prioritize, and track maintenance work orders to ensure timely completion and accurate documentation of all repair and preventive maintenance activities.

o Support new product introductions and new equipment installations, including planning, coordination, and startup activities.

o Perform and assign routine housekeeping activities in work area and at point of maintenance.

o Maintain and work with the maintenance team for accurate records, including work order history, parts usage, and equipment data, within the company's ERP system. Manage maintenance parts and supplies inventory, including stock levels, ordering, and organization, to minimize downtime and ensure parts availability.

· Repair and maintain company machinery as directed according to blueprints, catalogs, and data charts.

o Diagnose machine malfunctions and operating problems. Inspect machine and observe operation to detect the cause of malfunction. Make repairs and adjustments to keep machinery in production.

o Disassemble and rebuild machines, overhaul troublesome components and attachments. Involves dismantling, inspection, machining and/or replacement of purchased parts.

o Select replacement parts from parts lists and catalogs. Lay out repair parts; set up and operate machine tools to machine parts. May improvise some tooling.

· Perform work related to the installation of new machines or the relocation of existing machines. May work as part of a project team to complete assignment.

· Coordinate with outside vendors and contractors for equipment repairs, parts procurement, and specialized services as needed, including placing purchase orders for parts, materials, and services.

· Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES):

· High School Diploma or equivalent

· Accredited journeyman apprenticeship in machine repair preferred

· 3-5 years’ experience in diversified machine operations

· Requires knowledge of machining technology, electrical codes, mechanical principles, advanced shop mathematics, job layout and precision measuring procedures, setups, tooling application, and operating methods

· Capable of operating a hoist/lifting equipment safely and effectively

· Must be able to read and comprehend electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics

· Must be able to read and comprehend PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers)

· Background in plastic injection molding a plus

· Experience in major mechanical systems, i.e. HVAC, electrical, plumbing, a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Work is performed primarily on the manufacturing floor and requires standing or walking for extended periods, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally and move heavier objects with proper equipment. Exposure to typical manufacturing conditions (noise, moving equipment, and varying temperatures) should be expected; appropriate PPE is required in designated areas.
