Global Account Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Global Account Director based in the United States.

This senior commercial role focuses on developing strategic relationships and expanding business with biopharmaceutical clients across the drug development lifecycle. You will identify new opportunities, grow existing accounts, and qualify client needs through structured discovery and strategic business conversations. Working alongside specialized drug development consultants, you will connect client priorities with the right expert resources and solutions. The role combines business development, executive relationship management, negotiation, and project oversight in a highly collaborative environment. You will engage with senior biopharma stakeholders and help shape strategic engagements from initial qualification through delivery. Success requires strong industry expertise, commercial judgment, communication skills, and the ability to influence across a global matrix organization.

Accountabilities:
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue strategic business opportunities with new clients while developing sustainable growth opportunities within assigned existing accounts.
  • Conduct comprehensive discovery with prospective and existing clients to understand their business models, corporate objectives, development programs, priorities, critical decisions, challenges, timelines, and financial considerations.
  • Translate qualified client needs into appropriate consulting engagements by identifying and coordinating the relevant internal scientific and drug development experts and facilitating their introduction to client teams.
  • Lead and facilitate client meetings, ensuring consulting resources and internal stakeholders are thoroughly briefed on objectives, meeting plans, client priorities, and expected outcomes.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between clients and internal teams, maintaining strong executive relationships and ensuring clear communication throughout the engagement lifecycle.
  • Support and facilitate the execution of Confidential Disclosure Agreements (CDAs), Master Services Agreements (MSAs), and related commercial arrangements, while negotiating terms based on client requirements, timelines, challenges, and financial considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with project teams to support timely delivery and high-quality outcomes, communicating issues, status updates, and resolutions to relevant stakeholders.
  • Provide leadership, coordination, and timely feedback across project and commercial stakeholders, keeping senior management informed of progress, risks, opportunities, and key decisions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date opportunity and account information in Salesforce to support business visibility, forecasting, and effective account management.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a science-related discipline, combined with a demonstrated career progression in business development and substantial experience supporting drug development-related services.
  • 10+ years of combined business development experience representing drug development consulting services across areas ranging from preclinical development through Phase 4 within the biopharmaceutical sector.
  • Deep understanding of drug development processes and the ability to engage credibly in strategic discussions with C-suite and senior leadership at biopharmaceutical organizations.
  • Strong knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical landscape, including current industry trends, market dynamics, emerging opportunities, and strategic challenges.
  • Familiarity with Clinical Pharmacology and Model-Informed Drug Development, including PK/PD, QSP, PBPK, and MBMA, is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated success identifying, evaluating, and pursuing business development opportunities across new and existing strategic markets, with the ability to develop business plans based on industry trends and commercial opportunities.
  • Strong leadership and project management capabilities, including the ability to establish priorities, provide direction, delegate effectively, communicate proactively, and drive initiatives across collaborative teams.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional commercialization teams, bringing a strong business orientation and considering challenges from multiple functional perspectives.
  • Extensive negotiation experience, with the ability to establish clear negotiation strategies, manage structured processes, engage effectively with stakeholders, and drive commercially sound outcomes.
  • Strong communication, relationship-building, influencing, and executive presence skills, with demonstrated credibility working across functions, organizational levels, and geographies in a matrix environment.
Benefits:
  • Opportunity to work with leading biopharmaceutical organizations across the drug development lifecycle, from preclinical development through post-marketing and Phase 4 activities.
  • Exposure to specialized scientific and consulting expertise across complex drug development programs and strategic client engagements.
  • Senior-level ownership of strategic accounts, business development opportunities, client relationships, and commercial growth initiatives.
  • Collaborative, global, and cross-functional working environment involving business development, scientific, consulting, project, and senior leadership teams.
  • Opportunities for professional training, continuous development, and exposure to evolving trends and innovations across the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Opportunity to contribute to engagements focused on accelerating the development of meaningful medicines and advancing drug development programs.
