Ellie utilizes various treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and its variations like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) for relationship issues, Psychodynamic Therapy to explore unconscious patterns from childhood, Exposure Therapy and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for trauma, and creative therapies like art or music therapy.

Job Summary: The Vice President of Practice Management partners with owners and clinic directors to improve performance and growth across the organization’s behavioral health practices. This role provides leadership across practice operations and strategic initiatives to strengthen clinic performance, patient access, financial results, and quality of care.
The VP ensures clinics operate efficiently, deliver excellent patient experiences and outcomes, meet regulatory requirements, and align with organizational goals. The role also helps clinic directors and franchise owners adopt best practices for running high-performing behavioral health practices.
The VP of Practice Management leads several direct reports and works closely with the COO and business consultants to implement change and best practices.
This position will report directly to the CEO of Ellie Mental Health.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Operational Oversight
- Drive clinic operations best practices to increase patient volume, ensure quality outcomes, capture revenue, and drive down expenses
- Influence day-to-day operations across multi-state behavioral health clinics with a focus on ensuring that franchisees maximize the value they get from shared services support (credentialing, RCM, point of care cash collection, and new patient scheduling online and through call center) by implementing best practices and engaging with external vendors and internal teams.
- Implement policies and procedures to maximize efficiency, patient scheduling, resource utilization, and measured outcomes.
- Monitor all shared service functions from initial intake through credentialing to billing and collections and recommend solutions to improve outcomes.
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and implement long-range strategic plans for behavioral health services aligned with the organization’s mission as well as explore how Ellie fits into the broader mental healthcare continuum.
- Identify and expand new service lines, lead market development initiatives, and foster strategic partnerships.
- Assist with payer contract negotiations to drive better reimbursement.
Financial Management
- Analyze financial and operational data to improve financial performance, ensure cost-effectiveness, and deliver quality health outcomes
Compliance & Quality
- Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and accreditation standards (HIPAA, OSHA, Joint Commission).
- Lead quality improvement initiatives, monitor performance metrics, and drive excellence in client outcomes.
Patient Experience
- Monitor patient satisfaction metrics.
- Implement initiatives to improve client access, reduce wait times, and enhance overall client experience.
Required Qualifications:
- Education: Master’s degree in counseling, social work, marriage and family therapy, or another behavioral health discipline.
- Clinical Background: Current or prior unrestricted clinical licensure as a mental health therapist (e.g. LPCC, LPC, LMHC, LMFT, LICSW / LCSW, or equivalent), together with meaningful experience providing direct psychotherapy services to clients in an outpatient behavioral health setting.
- Experience: Ten or more years of progressive leadership in healthcare operations, including multi-site ambulatory services and oversight of clinical and operational teams.
- Skills: Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities; expertise in financial management, data-driven decision-making, and change management; proficiency with EHR systems and practice management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration (MHA) strongly preferred.
- Experience scaling multi-site healthcare organizations, particularly in franchise, private equity-backed, or other growth-oriented environments.
- Experience with payer contracting, revenue cycle management, and multi-state healthcare operations.
Expected salary range: $175,000 - $225,000 annually. Actual compensation will depend on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors. In addition, this position may be eligible for annual incentive compensation and equity participation.
