At Valley Regional Hospital, patients are the center of our coordinated care system and right now we have an opening for a Director of Professional Development and Nursing Excellence to join our team.
The primary responsibility of the Director of Professional Development and Nursing Excellence is: A dual-site strategic nursing leader responsible for advancing a unified culture of nursing excellence across Valley Regional Hospital and Mt. Ascutney Hospital.
This role is accountable for the design, implementation, and sustainment of a shared professional development infrastructure, including a high-functioning shared governance model, a single, integrated nursing professional development team, and standardized systems that support clinical excellence, evidence-based practice (EBP), quality outcomes, and workforce engagement across both organizations.
The Director ensures alignment, consistency, and elimination of duplication in education, competency, and professional practice efforts while supporting local site needs. This leader partners closely with both Chief Nursing Officers and interprofessional leaders to drive measurable improvements in quality, safety, staff development, and retention.
Ideal Candidate would have the following qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Nursing required; Doctoral degree (DNP or PhD) preferred
- Minimum 5–7 years of progressive leadership experience in:
- Nursing education / professional development
- Clinical operations, quality, or nursing leadership
- Demonstrated success in:
- Implementing shared governance structures
- Leading multi-site or system-level initiatives
- Standardizing programs across organizations
- Advancing EBP and quality outcomes
- Strong experience in:
- Program development and evaluation
- Change management and strategic execution
- Team development and leadership
- Always exhibits professionalism, understands appropriate workplace behavior/communications.
- Ability to be a self-motivated learner, to take initiative in learning the many complex processes
- High integrity, able to follow procedures
Compensation:
Min: $55.08
Max: $88.13
