Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Software Engineer, AI Productivity in Canada.
This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and applied AI, focused on building intelligent systems that improve developer and operator productivity at scale.
You will design and ship production-grade AI-powered tools that embed large language models into real-world workflows.
The scope includes building internal platforms such as code assistants, knowledge search, and automated workflows that reduce operational friction.
You will collaborate closely with platform, ML, security, and data teams to ensure safe, scalable, and compliant AI adoption.
The environment is fast-paced, highly collaborative, and engineering-driven, with strong emphasis on ownership and iteration.
You will work on systems that directly impact engineering velocity, product quality, and operational efficiency across the organization.
This is a remote-friendly opportunity across Canada within a flexible, modern engineering culture.
- Design, build, and operate AI-powered internal services and productivity tools, including assistants, chat-based workflows, and intelligent search systems that enhance engineering and operational efficiency.
- Develop robust backend systems using languages such as Python, Go, or Java, integrating LLM APIs, vector databases, and retrieval-augmented generation techniques where appropriate.
- Own services end-to-end, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, on-call support, and continuous optimization for performance, cost, and reliability.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (ML Platform, Developer Platform, Security, Legal) to ensure responsible AI usage, including privacy, governance, and safety guardrails.
- Define success metrics such as productivity gains, adoption rates, system reliability, and workflow efficiency; run experiments and A/B tests to validate impact.
- Build reusable tooling, frameworks, and documentation to accelerate AI adoption across engineering teams and mentor peers on best practices.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience building and operating production-scale systems.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language: Python, Go, or Java.
- 2+ years of experience integrating ML or LLM-based capabilities into production applications using tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or GCP), containerization (Docker), and orchestration systems (Kubernetes).
- Strong knowledge of SQL, data modeling, and experience with data pipelines (e.g., Airflow, Dagster, or equivalent).
- Proven ability to own services end-to-end, including CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and on-call responsibilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Nice to have: experience with vector databases, RAG systems, distributed event-driven architectures, and internal developer tooling.
- Strong collaboration, communication, and mentorship skills in cross-functional engineering environments.
- Remote-friendly role across eligible Canadian provinces with flexible work arrangements.
- Competitive base compensation with additional equity-based grants and annual refresh opportunities.
- Market-aligned salary range (Canada-based candidates).
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge applied AI systems with real production impact.
- High-autonomy engineering culture emphasizing ownership, experimentation, and continuous improvement.
- Access to modern tooling, cloud infrastructure, and strong cross-functional technical teams.
- Inclusive, collaborative environment supporting professional growth and technical leadership development.
