This is a project-based opportunity for a data professional who enjoys solving complex challenges across modern, scalable data ecosystems. You will help organizations modernize their data operations, connect fragmented systems, and prepare platforms for analytics and AI-driven products. The role combines hands-on data engineering with architecture, systems thinking, and strategic technical decision-making. You’ll work across cloud-native platforms, databases, pipelines, modeling, orchestration, and modern data stack technologies. Engagements can vary in scope, duration, and technical focus, creating exposure to different products, clients, and business challenges. You’ll collaborate with software engineers, AI specialists, product teams, and international stakeholders in fast-moving environments. This remote-first contractor model is particularly suited to professionals who value flexibility, variety, and meaningful technical ownership.
- Design, build, and evolve scalable modern data architectures, platforms, pipelines, and workflows across different client projects and business contexts.
- Develop end-to-end data solutions supporting analytics, operational use cases, AI initiatives, and broader digital transformation programs.
- Define and improve data modeling strategies, ingestion processes, ETL/ELT workflows, transformations, and orchestration processes.
- Work closely with engineering, AI, product, and business teams to translate business needs into practical and scalable data solutions.
- Design and implement solutions across cloud-native data platforms, relational and non-relational databases, and modern data stack technologies.
- Contribute to technical and strategic discussions with international clients and multidisciplinary teams, helping shape architecture and implementation decisions.
- Adapt data solutions to different project requirements, technologies, levels of maturity, and evolving business priorities.
- Support data modernization initiatives, infrastructure improvements, AI integration projects, and distributed data systems where applicable.
- Use AI-enabled tools in day-to-day engineering workflows to improve automation, documentation, query generation, development efficiency, and operational support.
- Take ownership of technical outcomes while navigating ambiguity, context switching, and rapidly changing project environments.
- Strong professional experience designing scalable data architectures and delivering modern data engineering solutions in production environments.
- Solid knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, and distributed data systems.
- Hands-on experience with modern data stack technologies such as Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, or equivalent platforms.
- Strong understanding of relational and non-relational databases, cloud-native data platforms, and enterprise-scale data architectures.
- Experience working across different technologies and business contexts, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements and project priorities.
- Strong systems thinking and problem-solving skills, combined with a high level of technical ownership and autonomy.
- Advanced English proficiency, with confidence participating in meetings, technical discussions, written communication, and asynchronous collaboration with international clients and teams.
- Comfortable collaborating with software engineers, AI engineers, product professionals, and business stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in ambiguous, fast-paced environments where project scope and technical priorities may evolve.
- Practical experience using AI as part of daily technical workflows, including automation, query generation, documentation, development acceleration, or operational support.
- Experience with Apache Spark, Kafka, Delta Lake, AI integration initiatives, or other distributed data technologies is considered a strong plus.
- Ability to operate as an independent contractor, including having a valid business registration in the country of residence, such as CNPJ, VAT, EIN, or an equivalent registration.
- Ability to maintain a bank account capable of receiving USD payments and issue invoices in accordance with contractor requirements.
