Job Description

Reporting to the Centre Director, you will be an integral member of the Kids & Company team, supporting the overall management of daily kitchen operations. Your role will involve food preparation and cooking, following Kids & Company standards to align with our mission statement.

Responsibilities

  • Receive meals and snacks from main kitchen; portion the food, and deliver it to classrooms, ensuring food is distributed safely and on time.
  • Assist with food preparation tasks, such as cutting fruit, and perform other kitchen support duties as assigned.
  • Prepare and organize meal service supplies, including bins, serving materials, and delivery carts.
  • Collect dishes, utensils, and meal service equipment from classrooms.
  • Wash, rinse, sanitize, and properly store dishes, utensils, serving equipment, and food trolleys in accordance with food safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen by cleaning work areas, equipment, storage areas, and meal service items.
  • Assist with organizing, storing, and rotating food products, kitchen supplies, and inventory.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, allergy-awareness, and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Cook and Centre Director to support efficient kitchen operations.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support the overall operation of the kitchen.

What you need

  • 2+ years of experience in a Kitchen Assistant role.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Current Food Handler Certification, or willingness to obtain it.
  • Experience in a daycare environment is an asset.
  • Valid driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • A clean criminal record check is required.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, and pull up to 45 pounds.
