Job Description
The Village is seeking temporary part-time seasonal workers to provide general assistance to various maintenance crews during the winter months. The essential functions of these positions include, but are not limited to, snow and ice removal operations, pothole patching, sewer cleaning, and shop/building maintenance. Candidates will be considered under one of the following two tiers based on whether they possess a valid Illinois Class B commercial driver's license (CDL) with an air brake endorsement:
- Tier 1 - CDL Candidates: Employees may operate CDL-required vehicles and equipment as part of snow and ice removal and other Public Works operations.
- Tier 2 - Non-CDL Candidates: Employees will assist with snow and ice removal and other Public Works operations using vehicles and equipment that do not require a CDL.
Previous snowplowing experience is a plus but is not required. Training on vehicles and equipment and familiarization with plow routes will be provided upon hire. Seasonal winter positions will work a 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. shift, Monday through Friday. The position may also require after-hours (overtime) work during snow and ice events, including weekends and holidays. Ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule and be available to work at all hours. The general duration of these temporary positions is approximately December 1, 2026 through April 1, 2027.
Requirements:Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid Illinois driver's license. Tier 1 candidates must also possess a valid Illinois Class B CDL with an air brake endorsement. A CDL is not required for Tier 2 candidates.
Candidates must be able to lift or move up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and lift or move 50 to 100 pounds on an occasional basis.
Pay/How to Apply
- Tier 1 - CDL Candidates: $31.00 per hour, depending on past experience.
- Tier 2 - Non-CDL Candidates: $25.00 per hour, depending on past experience.
Tier 1- CDL Candidates will be eligible for a $1,000 signing bonus; this bonus will be divided into two payments $500 at the start of the season and $500 at the end of the season. These positions do not include fringe benefits and are not IMRF eligible.
