Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Quality Manager, will be responsible for development, maintenance, and support of systems and procedures necessary for proper function and effectiveness of Quality Management System.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage and direct the activities of the Quality Technicians.
• Identify methods and processes to enhance quality of operations within all departments.
• Coordinate with other departments as necessary to resolve nonconformances and other issues related to quality.
• Provide direct support during internal and external audits of operations at all facilities.
• Compose and update standard practice instructions for Quality Department procedures.
• Update ISO 9001 Quality and Procedures Manuals as necessary.
• Assist with delivery of training related to quality to employees throughout the organization.
• Conduct quality audits of new and existing processes and products, detect quality problems, monitor and record the results from processes and procedures and compare the results to predetermined expected ranges, and take corrective measures to improve operational processes when measurements are found to deviate from standards.
• Use data analysis, technical writing, and documentation control skills to support documentation control and quality audits, ensuring both internal and external regulations and standards are adhered to.
• Collect and analyze data on company processes and products and arrange the data in reports for management.
• Observe activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for manufacturing processes, materials, products, and business systems.
• Develop and implement standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation relative to the organization’s quality management system.
• Manage the calibration of tools and equipment that are subject to calibration.
• Meet with the other teams within our organization to share results and recommendations.
• May provide feedback on the user-friendly or unfriendly aspects of our products.
• May provide ideas for modifications and improvements.
Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.):
• Supervisory skills and knowledge.
• Knowledge of inspection and quality control methods, techniques, and equipment.
• Kaizen and Lean Manufacturing techniques are a plus.
• Possess creativity and understanding of our products and the goals of the company.
• High mechanical/technical aptitude.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Computer skills including Microsoft Windows, Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to investigate and solve problems.
• Understanding of manufacturing/distribution environments.
• Excellent organizational abilities.
• Occasional national travel and infrequent international travel, approximately 10% of the time.
• Conduct all interactions with customers, vendors, field sales representatives, and coworkers in a focused, positive, courteous, and respectful manner.
• 3-5 years of QA/QC experience preferred.
Education Requirements:
• Vocational technical education in electromechanical technology preferred.
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions:
Normal office conditions. Office located in a two-story office building. Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people. Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving and/or traveling.
Moderate exposure to shop conditions, which are variable depending on the task assigned, but are generally dirty. Is subject to shop noise. Involves extensive standing and walking. Skin and eyes are subject to drying and irritating fumes, vapors and solutions controlled to OSHA standards. Works both in and outdoors, normally indoors, with sometimes dusty or confining work areas when in the shop/lab.
