Job Description
Secretome Therapeutics is a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Plano, Texas, developing novel therapies derived from neonatal cardiac progenitor cells (nCPC). The Company's lead product candidate, STM-01, is a cellular therapy designed to modulate inflammatory and fibrotic pathways and support myocardial function in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) and Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF). Secretome is also advancing STM-21, a secretome-based therapeutic currently in preclinical development, and other novel nCPC-based products.
About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Senior Laboratory Technician to support a diverse research and development laboratory. This role will be responsible for learning and independently executing established laboratory assays and procedures with a high degree of accuracy, consistency, and reliability.
The ideal candidate has several years of practical laboratory experience, strong human cell culture and aseptic technique, and familiarity with common molecular and cellular biology methods. This individual should be comfortable learning new procedures, working across different areas of the laboratory, troubleshooting routine technical issues, and supporting scientists with the reliable execution of established experimental methods.
This is a senior technical laboratory position focused primarily on high-quality experimental execution rather than independent scientific strategy, assay-development ownership, or research-program leadership.
What you'll do
- Learn and independently perform established laboratory assays and protocols following defined procedures and documentation requirements.
- Perform routine and moderately complex laboratory procedures accurately and consistently with limited day-to-day supervision.
- Maintain and culture human and mammalian cells using appropriate sterile and aseptic techniques.
- Prepare samples, reagents, buffers, media, standards, and other materials required for laboratory assays.
- Perform molecular and cellular biology techniques that may include PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, DNA preparation, RNA preparation, and related laboratory methods.
- Operate standard laboratory equipment and perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting as needed.
- Recognize unexpected assay results, technical problems, or deviations from established procedures and communicate issues promptly to the appropriate scientist or supervisor.
- Accurately document experimental procedures, observations, results, sample information, and laboratory activities using appropriate laboratory records or electronic systems.
- Assist with implementation and routine execution of new laboratory procedures after methods have been developed and established.
- Maintain organized laboratory work areas, samples, reagents, supplies, and equipment.
- Follow applicable laboratory safety, biosafety, quality, and waste-disposal procedures.
- Assist with training less-experienced laboratory personnel on established procedures as needed.
- Work collaboratively with scientists and other laboratory staff and contribute flexibly to the needs of a multidisciplinary research group.
- Learn new laboratory techniques and procedures as research needs evolve.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Several years of relevant hands-on laboratory experience, typically approximately 2–5 years depending on education, technical background, and prior responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to perform established laboratory procedures independently, accurately, and reliably.
- Hands-on experience with mammalian or human cell culture and strong sterile and aseptic technique.
- Experience with one or more common molecular or cellular biology techniques such as PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, DNA preparation, RNA preparation, or comparable laboratory methods.
- Ability to follow written protocols and established laboratory procedures consistently.
- Ability to identify and troubleshoot routine laboratory problems and recognize when additional scientific or technical guidance is required.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate and reproducible laboratory work.
- Good laboratory documentation, organization, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple laboratory activities and work effectively in a dynamic research environment.
- Willingness and ability to learn new laboratory techniques and contribute across a broad range of research activities.
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in biology, biotechnology, chemistry, biochemistry, or a related discipline preferred; relevant laboratory experience and demonstrated technical proficiency may substitute for a specific degree requirement.
