Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Firmware Test Automation Engineer based in India.
This role offers the opportunity to lead firmware validation and automation for enterprise-class server platforms. You will design and evolve automation frameworks that improve test coverage, efficiency, reliability, and release confidence. Working across BIOS, BMC, and Root-of-Trust firmware, you will validate complex systems across multiple server product lines. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring. You will partner closely with hardware, firmware, architecture, and QA teams to investigate issues and drive robust solutions. This is an ideal opportunity for an experienced automation engineer who enjoys solving complex systems-level challenges in a global engineering environment.
Design, develop, maintain, and continuously improve automation frameworks and automated test suites for enterprise server firmware.
Validate BIOS, BMC, Root-of-Trust firmware, and associated software components across multiple server platforms.
Develop comprehensive validation strategies covering functional, regression, stress, performance, security, compliance, and interoperability testing.
Create, review, and enhance test cases based on product specifications, technical requirements, and platform behavior.
Build Python- and Robot Framework-based automation, including automation for BMC/OpenBMC environments.
Maintain reliable automated test environments and ensure test infrastructure supports efficient and repeatable validation.
Analyze test results, lead debugging and root-cause investigations, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex firmware issues.
Drive end-to-end validation coverage and identify opportunities to improve test effectiveness, automation efficiency, and release quality.
Collaborate with hardware, firmware, QA, R&D, and architecture teams throughout the product development and validation lifecycle.
Plan workloads, coordinate milestones, prioritize activities, and ensure testing commitments are delivered on schedule.
Mentor junior engineers and contribute technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and best practices across the automation and validation team.
Support continuous integration and delivery workflows using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, GitHub, Jira, and Bugzilla.
5+ years of professional experience in BIOS/BMC firmware testing, firmware validation, or test automation.
Strong knowledge of BIOS, BMC, firmware validation, and x86 server architecture.
Hands-on expertise with Python, Robot Framework, and OpenBMC automation, including experience creating and debugging OpenBMC test cases.
Strong understanding of server hardware fundamentals and experience working with server or embedded systems.
Familiarity with maintaining automated test environments and developing scalable, reusable test infrastructure.
Working knowledge of relevant server and firmware standards, including IPMI, DMTF, Redfish, PLDM, SPDM, UEFI, PCIe, ACPI, OCP, TPM, and Root of Trust.
Experience with software development and testing tools such as GitLab, GitHub, Jenkins, Jira, and Bugzilla, as well as CI/CD environments.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to investigate failures, identify root causes, and collaborate effectively on resolution.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across hardware, firmware, QA, R&D, and architecture teams.
Strong self-management, prioritization, planning, and execution skills.
Demonstrated ability to mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred.
Full-time remote opportunity based in India.
Opportunity to work on enterprise-class server firmware and complex hardware-software systems.
Exposure to BIOS, BMC, OpenBMC, Root of Trust, server architecture, and industry-standard firmware technologies.
Opportunity to influence automation strategy, validation methodologies, test coverage, and engineering quality.
Collaboration with global hardware, firmware, architecture, QA, and R&D teams.
Technical leadership and mentoring opportunities with scope to grow engineering expertise.
Experience working with modern automation, CI/CD, debugging, and software development tools.
Opportunity to contribute to reliable, secure, and high-quality technology platforms used at enterprise scale.
