Job Description

Description:

The Manager, Instructional Design & Learning Delivery designs and develops learning solutions and project-manages their delivery to meet business requirements across the enterprise. Reporting to the Senior Director of Learning & Development, this role translates capability needs into effective, engaging learning experiences—delivered in person, virtually, online, and through AI-enabled tools—and coordinates the people, content, and logistics required to deliver them on time and to a high standard. This is a hands-on role combining instructional design craft, facilitation, and project management, working closely with subject matter experts, business leaders, and HR peers. Experience in a manufacturing environment and in large, matrixed organizations is important to delivering learning solutions that fit the realities of a fast-moving operational workforce.

Location: Columbus, OH or Minneapolis, MN (on-site required)

Travel: Up to 25%

Key Responsibilities:

Instructional Design & Development

• Design and develop learning solutions across modalities—in-person classroom, virtual instructor-led, self-paced online, and AI-enabled experiences—grounded in adult learning principles and measurable objectives.

• Analyze business requirements and partner with subject matter experts to translate capability needs into learning objectives, content, and assessments.

• Develop online learning programs using authoring tools and associated learning technologies.

• Apply AI tools to design, build, and personalize learning experiences and to accelerate content development.

• Create supporting materials, including facilitator guides, participant materials, job aids, and assessments.

Learning Delivery & Facilitation

• Facilitate engaging in-person and virtual instructor-led sessions for a range of audiences.

• Prepare and certify other instructors on content, and provide train-the-trainer support as needed.

• Ensure learning materials and delivery are effective across both English- and Spanish-speaking employee populations, coordinating translation and localization as needed.

Project Management

• Project-manage the end-to-end delivery of learning solutions, including scope, timelines, resources, milestones, and stakeholder communication.

• Coordinate course scheduling, classrooms, materials, and logistics in partnership with L&D operations.

• Manage third-party vendors and contract instructors where external content or delivery is required, tracking quality and timelines.

• Balance multiple concurrent projects and priorities, keeping stakeholders informed of status, risks, and dependencies.

Learning Technology & Measurement

• Build and maintain courses within the learning management system (LMS), ensuring accurate enrollment, tracking, and reporting.

• Evaluate learning effectiveness using participation, completion, learner feedback, and proficiency data, and recommend improvements.

• Stay current on instructional design, learning technology, and AI-enabled learning practices, and bring new ideas forward.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

• At least 5 years of experience in a learning and development role, including instructional design and delivery.

• Demonstrated instructional design experience developing learning across in-person, virtual, and online modalities.

• Experience as an instructor or facilitator for both in-person and virtual sessions.

• Experience developing online learning programs and using associated authoring and learning technologies.

• Experience using AI to enable and enhance learning experiences.

• Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple learning projects and deadlines simultaneously.

• Strong facilitation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Ability to work effectively across English- and Spanish-speaking employee populations.

• Ability to work effectively with business leaders and HR peers.

• Experience in a manufacturing environment, with an understanding of the learning needs of an operational workforce.

• Experience working in large, matrixed organizations and delivering learning across complex reporting and decision-making structures.

• Based on-site in Columbus, OH or Minneapolis, MN, with the ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Professional fluency in both English and Spanish.

• Instructional design or facilitation certification (e.g., ATD CPTD, APTD, or equivalent).

• Hands-on experience with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate, Captivate) and LMS administration.

• Project management certification or equivalent experience (e.g., CAPM, PMP).

• Experience selecting and managing third-party learning vendors and content providers.
