Sr. Director Media Planning

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Director Media Planning based in United States.

The Sr. Director, Media Planning will lead the development of integrated, performance-driven media strategies for complex B2B clients.
You’ll shape cross-channel plans that connect brand awareness, demand generation, and measurable business outcomes.
The role combines strategic leadership, client partnership, team development, media innovation, and commercial expertise.
You’ll oversee planning across digital and offline channels, including programmatic, CTV, OOH, broadcast, experiential, and industry media.
Working closely with creative, analytics, demand strategy, and activation teams, you’ll ensure media investments work together throughout the buyer journey.
You’ll also help evolve planning frameworks, evaluate emerging opportunities, and strengthen media capabilities across the organization.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced B2B media strategist who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving, and results-oriented environment.

Accountabilities
  • Lead the development of integrated media strategies and plans for complex B2B and enterprise clients, translating business and marketing objectives into audience, channel, investment, and measurement recommendations.

  • Develop cross-channel media plans spanning programmatic, direct publisher buys, trade and industry media, digital display, video, content syndication, OOH, CTV, broadcast, experiential, and emerging platforms.

  • Define the role of each channel across the buyer journey and ensure media investments operate as a cohesive strategy rather than disconnected tactics.

  • Lead, coach, and develop media planners and buyers, strengthening the strategic quality, consistency, and impact of their work.

  • Partner with activation specialists to translate strategic plans into effective execution, optimization, and ongoing performance management.

  • Analyze performance data, market intelligence, audience insights, and measurement results to identify opportunities and communicate clear optimization recommendations.

  • Collaborate with Demand Strategy, Creative, Analytics, Client Success, Project Management, and other disciplines to build cohesive brand-to-demand programs.

  • Develop and improve media planning frameworks, tools, standards, and processes to increase consistency, scalability, and efficiency.

  • Evaluate emerging media channels, platforms, partners, data sources, and planning technologies to identify relevant opportunities and strengthen client strategies.

  • Build strong relationships with media partners and vendors, using market knowledge and partner expertise to inform recommendations and drive innovation.

  • Lead vendor evaluations and negotiations to secure appropriate pricing, placements, partnerships, and added value.

  • Present media strategies, recommendations, performance insights, and optimization opportunities to senior client stakeholders, including director-, VP-, and executive-level audiences.

Requirements
  • 8+ years of experience in media strategy, media planning, or integrated media, ideally within an agency environment.

  • Strong experience developing B2B media strategies and plans for complex or enterprise-level clients.

  • Deep knowledge of digital and offline media planning, including programmatic, display, video, trade and industry media, content syndication, OOH, CTV, broadcast, and other relevant B2B channels.

  • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, or mentoring media professionals and improving the strategic quality of their work.

  • Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to interpret media performance and translate insights into actionable optimization recommendations.

  • Experience partnering with channel specialists and activation teams while maintaining ownership of the overall media strategy.

  • Proven client-facing experience, including presenting strategic recommendations to senior and executive-level stakeholders.

  • Experience developing media partner relationships and negotiating with vendors.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, storytelling, collaboration, and stakeholder-management skills.

  • Ability to connect strategic thinking with practical execution and measurable business outcomes.

  • Strong understanding of how media channels interact throughout the B2B buyer journey.

  • Familiarity with media planning, research, buying, measurement, and audience platforms such as Bionic, Campaign Manager 360, The Trade Desk, Display & Video 360, 6sense, or Demandbase is an asset.

  • Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, take ownership, challenge assumptions constructively, and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Must be eligible to work in Canada, the United States, or the United Kingdom without visa sponsorship.
