Job Title: Robot Operator – Robotic Welder
Location: Polkton, NC
Department: Welding / Manufacturing
Reports To: Welding Supervisor / Production Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

The Robot Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining robotic welding equipment used in the production process. This role ensures that robotic welders run efficiently, produce high-quality welds, and meet all safety and quality standards. The operator will set up welding programs, load components, perform routine inspections, and make necessary adjustments to support consistent production output. This position requires strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work closely with supervisors and team members to maintain a safe, productive, and efficient work environment. It is ideal for individuals with welding knowledge who are eager to work with advanced manufacturing technology.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, operate, and monitor robotic welding machines according to production requirements and safety procedures.
  • Load and unload components, fixtures, and materials into the robotic welder.
  • Inspect welded parts for accuracy, quality, and compliance with specifications.
  • Make basic adjustments to robot settings, weld parameters, and fixtures as directed.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning weld nozzles, replacing consumables, and checking gas levels.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions to ensure proper part alignment and weld placement.
  • Identify and report equipment issues, malfunctions, or deviations from quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with welders, supervisors, and quality inspectors to resolve production issues.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of production counts, inspections, and machine adjustments.
  • Follow all company safety policies, wear required PPE, and maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

  • Experience operating robotic welding equipment or similar automated machinery preferred.
  • Basic welding knowledge (MIG, TIG, or spot welding experience is a plus).
  • Ability to read blueprints, welding symbols, and work instructions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn machine operation and troubleshooting.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs during the shift.
  • Familiarity with safety procedures in a manufacturing or welding environment.
