Senior Editor & Mortgage Content Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Editor & Mortgage Content Lead based in Canada.

In this senior editorial leadership role, you will shape and elevate authoritative content across the mortgage and real estate space for a fast-growing digital financial platform.
You will act as the primary subject matter expert, translating complex market dynamics, rate movements, and lending insights into clear, engaging, and high-impact content.
The role blends hands-on editorial excellence with strategic ownership of content direction, governance, and performance optimization.
You will regularly collaborate with product, marketing, analytics, and mortgage experts to ensure accuracy, relevance, and commercial impact.
A key part of your work will involve representing the brand in media interviews, video content, and industry commentary.
You will also oversee editorial quality across multiple formats, ensuring consistency, clarity, and compliance in a fast-moving regulatory environment.
This is a highly visible role for a strong editorial leader who thrives at the intersection of finance, storytelling, and digital content strategy.

Accountabilities:
  • Define and lead the editorial strategy for mortgage and real estate content, ensuring strong alignment with audience needs, business goals, and market developments.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for mortgages, providing insights, commentary, and data-driven perspectives across content and media channels.
  • Produce, edit, and oversee high-quality content across multiple formats including articles, landing pages, newsletters, social media, and video scripts.
  • Represent the organization in media interviews and on-camera content, contributing expert commentary on market trends and mortgage-related topics.
  • Maintain and continuously update high-traffic and evergreen content to ensure accuracy, relevance, and SEO/GEO optimization.
  • Establish and enforce editorial standards, voice, workflows, and governance frameworks across internal teams and freelance contributors.
  • Oversee content quality assurance, including fact-checking, structural review, and compliance with Canadian financial regulations.
  • Use performance data (traffic, rankings, engagement, conversions) to guide editorial priorities and identify content gaps.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, marketing, design, and data teams to ensure content accuracy and alignment with live product and rate information.
  • Manage freelance writers and contributors, including briefing, editing, feedback, and quality control.
  • Lead sponsored content initiatives in coordination with partnership and commercial teams.
Requirements:
  • 6–10 years of editorial experience in digital media, fintech, financial services, or high-volume content environments.
  • Strong expertise in personal finance content, with deep knowledge of mortgages and real estate in the Canadian market strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and storytelling skills with the ability to simplify complex financial topics for a broad consumer audience.
  • Solid understanding of Canadian mortgage products, lending structures, rate dynamics, and regulatory considerations.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple content streams across formats including long-form articles, SEO landing pages, newsletters, and scripts.
  • Strong knowledge of SEO best practices and familiarity with GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) principles.
  • Experience using analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Search Console, SEMrush or similar) to inform content strategy.
  • Demonstrated leadership in managing writers, freelancers, and cross-functional editorial workflows.
  • Comfortable serving as a brand spokesperson with on-camera and/or media interview experience considered a strong asset.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience with CMS platforms and editorial/project management tools.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted content tools and responsible usage in editorial workflows.
Benefits:
  • Competitive salary aligned with Canadian market standards ($100,000 – $130,000 range)
  • Remote-first flexibility across Canada
  • Flexible working hours supporting work-life balance
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage with no employee premiums
  • RRSP matching program to support long-term savings
  • Annual professional development and training allowance
  • Collaborative, high-performance culture with strong editorial impact
  • Regular team socials and opportunities for in-person connection.
