Position Summary:
The University of New Mexico,Department of Emergency Medicine, is seeking a certified Registered DiagnosticMedical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen and Obstetrics and Gynecology, to serveas an Assistant Ultrasound Director. This faculty will work closely withultrasound fellowship-trained Emergency Medicine physicians to teachpoint-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) to medical students, residents, fellows, andattending physicians. This faculty will also support a strong community-engagedteaching and research program.
The Department of EmergencyMedicine has 86 full-time and part-time attending physicians, and is home to anoutstanding Emergency Medicine Residency, EMS Academy, and Center for DisasterMedicine. UNM Health System is New Mexico's only Level I Trauma Center, UNMChildren's Hospital, home to the only Burn Center, and the state's firstComprehensive Stroke Center. UNM Health System providers specialize in over 150areas and receive 900,000 outpatient visits, 22,000 surgical cases, and 100,000emergency room visits each year. UNM prides itself on being an engaged partnerto the many communities it serves and takes great pride in and accepts theresponsibility that comes with that commitment. The School of Medicine (SOM),created in 1964, is celebrated for its research discoveries and innovations inmedical education and has earned a reputation for prioritizing diversity in thephysician and health professions workforce. SOM is home to a groundbreakingBA/MD Program that provides a new pathway for students from throughout NewMexico to pursue a medical career, as well as numerous graduate and healthprofession programs. - Associate's Degree
- RDMS certified in Abdomen (AB) and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN)
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound
- Previous supervisory experience
- Ability to work autonomously and problem solve
- Ability to develop self-confidence in teaching physicians.
- Willingness to work with a variety of computer software
PreferredQualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher
- RDCS certification in one or more of the following: Adult Echocardiography (AE), Pediatric Echocardiography (PE)
- RVT certification in Vascular Technology (VT)
- ARDMS certification as Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
- Experience with Cerner
- Experience with Smartsheet
- Experience with Office Outlook, Excel, SharePoint (Microsoft 365)
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
