Job Description
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Dir. Product Commercialization based in India.
Lead the commercialization of innovative connected products from early development through launch and post-launch optimization. You will own the end-to-end launch process, coordinating product, engineering, operations, supply chain, retail, marketing, and external partners. The role is highly cross-functional and requires strong judgment to keep complex product programs moving while managing dependencies, risks, and competing priorities. You will build the processes, visibility, and operating infrastructure needed to scale commercialization effectively. Your work will directly influence launch readiness, operational execution, product quality, regulatory compliance, and commercial performance. This is an opportunity to join a high-growth environment where you can build systems from the ground up and have significant ownership over the product portfolio.
- Serve as the central coordination point across engineering, product development, brand, marketing, packaging, operations, supply chain, retail, legal, planning, and external manufacturing partners.
- Build strong working relationships across distributed teams and time zones, keeping stakeholders aligned on priorities, dependencies, milestones, and decisions.
- Translate technical constraints into business and marketing implications and ensure commercial requirements are clearly communicated to technical teams.
- Manage a portfolio of concurrent product initiatives, including new products, line extensions, product changes, and accessories at different stages of development.
- Maintain portfolio-level visibility through Asana or comparable project management platforms and provide structured updates on progress, risks, dependencies, and decisions required.
- Own sample and approval review calendars, including shipping schedules, reviewers, go/no-go criteria, and escalation processes when samples do not meet requirements.
- Coordinate hardware development milestones, manufacturing schedules, tooling, quality checkpoints, packaging, firmware scope, and mobile-app readiness.
- Own end-to-end go-to-market planning and execution, building launch plans with clear milestones, workstream owners, dependencies, and handoffs.
- Coordinate DTC/e-commerce and retail launches in parallel, ensuring retail readiness includes planograms, sell-in materials, packaging compliance, and retailer submission requirements.
- Maintain master launch timelines and proactively identify risks before they affect the critical path.
- Lead post-launch reviews and translate lessons learned into improved commercialization processes and future launch plans.
- Own post-freeze change control, including defining change triggers, approval requirements, downstream impact assessments, and escalation procedures.
- Monitor certification and regulatory requirements and ensure product launches have the necessary approvals before shipment.
- Maintain per-SKU launch cost models covering materials, tooling amortization, freight, duties, fulfillment fees, and margin targets, partnering with planning and operations to identify margin risks early.
- 7–10 years of experience in cross-functional product launch, commercialization, or program management, with a demonstrated track record of bringing physical or hardware/software products to market.
- Experience managing complex launch timelines across engineering, supply chain, operations, and go-to-market functions simultaneously.
- Strong experience working in growth-stage or scaling environments where processes and operating systems need to be developed and improved alongside the business.
- Background in consumer hardware, pet technology, wearables, connected devices, or other hardware-software products is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of the unique commercialization requirements of products combining hardware, software, and subscription services.
- Experience with retail channels such as Amazon, PetSmart, specialty retail, or comparable programs, including retailer lead times, compliance requirements, submission processes, and launch calendars.
- Willingness and ability to collaborate across multiple time zones, including international manufacturing and vendor partners.
- Sufficient regulatory and certification knowledge to identify launch risks and recognize when supplier or design changes may require new certification.
- Excellent program management skills, with strong judgment about when to accelerate, resolve, escalate, or pause a launch activity.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to obtain clear, actionable information from technical, creative, operations, manufacturing, and retail stakeholders.
- Proficiency with Asana, Jira, or comparable project management platforms, including maintaining portfolio and initiative-level visibility for senior leadership.
- Experience coordinating with contract manufacturers and third-party logistics (3PL) providers is preferred.
- Familiarity with supplier changes, Engineering Change Notices (ECNs), Bill of Materials (BOM) revisions, and their impact on manufacturing and assembly timelines is an advantage.
- A combination of startup experience and exposure to more established operational environments is highly desirable, particularly experience building processes rather than simply inheriting them.
- Competitive base salary range of $140,000–$160,000, with final compensation determined by experience, skills, and qualifications.
- Competitive overall compensation package including potential incentives and benefits.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance plans.
- Company-paid long-term disability coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
- Paid time off.
- Opportunities to receive product equipment and participate in product testing.
- Remote work flexibility, subject to the applicable employment arrangement.
- Opportunity to play a significant role in building commercialization systems within a high-growth environment.
- Cross-functional exposure across product development, engineering, marketing, operations, supply chain, retail, and manufacturing.
- Mission-driven culture focused on developing innovative products for pet owners and their animals.
