TRADEMAN - FACILIITES MANAGEMENT

Position Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Facilities Management, the Building Maintenance Tradesman is responsible for providing repairs and installation support of skilled carpentry, cabinetry, and building maintenance in a healthcare setting. The Tradesman position requires the ability to perform a wide variety of tasks related to building repairs – painting, doors, hanging items, cabinetry repairs, ceiling tiles, and other general repairs. The Tradesman position also requires the ability to collaborate and perform light range tasks necessary for construction projects as needed with the Construction Services or General Maintenance Departments.

Department Summary

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years prior building painting experience, preferred.
  • Must be computer literate to complete task(s) as required.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Driver’s License:
    • Must have 3 years of driving experience.
    • Must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check.
    • MVR check must demonstrate safe driving behavior as outlined in the Aultman Health System Driver Policy and be approved by Aultman’s insurance carrier.

  • Within six months, receive smoke and fire wall training.

Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Be able to finish (stain and varnish) and re-finish wood products.
  • Be able to paint all types of materials, such as desks, cabinets, etc.
  • Be able to correctly measure surfaces and order proper amounts of product to cover all surfaces.
  • Be able to install wall covering, murals, and protection materials.
  • Be able to patch plaster, finish dry walling. Work at heights requiring the use and set up of scaffolding and ladders. May be required to work at extreme heights.
  • Must keep equipment and work area clean.
  • Responsible for checking emails and online learning assignments on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must maintain a valid Ohio Driver’s License:
    • Must maintain an acceptable driving record as outlined by the Aultman Health System Driver Policy.
    • Must be approved annually by Aultman’s insurance carrier.

Working Conditions

  • Hours of operation with shifts as assigned including off-shifts (evenings and weekends), occasional overtime.
  • Occasional weekends and off shifts for repairs.
  • Lunch and break periods must be coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate staffing during facility hours of operation.
  • Performing building maintenance and renovation repair in a healthcare setting.
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Cross training in all areas in the department may be required.
  • Must be available weekends and other shifts to work on and complete special projects.

Hazardous Exposure Category

Category III - Includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues and Category I tasks are not a condition of employment. The normal work routine involves no exposure to blood; body fluids or tissues (although situations can be imagined or hypothesized under which anyone anywhere might encounter potential exposure to body fluids.) Persons who perform these duties are not called upon as part of their employment to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid or to be potentially exposed in some other way.
