Compensation: $19.45 - $19.73 per hour depending on qualifications, plus pooled tips

Benefits: Non-Benefits Eligible

Schedule: Variable. Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on performance and event needs. Hours are reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater.

Position Summary

The Bartender is responsible for delivering exceptional guest service by preparing and serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages in a fast-paced concessions environment during performances, special events, and rentals. Bartenders are expected to provide friendly, efficient service while maintaining product quality, responsible alcohol service practices, and food safety standards. The Bartender plays a key role in creating a welcoming guest experience while supporting the overall success of the concessions operation.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Beverage Service

  • Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to standardized recipes and presentation standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of current beverage offerings, seasonal menus, and promotions.
  • Accurately pour, garnish, and serve beverages while maintaining quality and consistency.
  • Ensure beverages are prepared efficiently while maintaining excellent guest service.
  • Assist guests with beverage selections and answer questions regarding menu offerings.

2. Guest Service

  • Provide friendly, professional, and welcoming service to all guests.
  • Create a positive guest experience through prompt, courteous, and attentive service.
  • Respond to guest questions and concerns professionally and refer issues beyond your authority to the Floor Lead or Concessions Coordinator.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting bar area throughout each shift.
  • Represent the organization with professionalism and hospitality.

3. Operations

  • Assist with opening and closing assigned concession locations.
  • Stock beverages, garnishes, paper goods, and supplies before, during, and after service.
  • Monitor product levels and notify the Floor Lead or Concessions Coordinator when replenishment is needed.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and storage areas.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for concession operations.
  • Accurately operate the point-of-sale (POS) system.

4. Food Safety and Alcohol Service Compliance

  • Verify guest identification when required and ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local alcohol laws.
  • Follow responsible alcohol service practices and refuse service when appropriate in accordance with organizational policy and applicable law.
  • Monitor guests for signs of intoxication and immediately notify the Floor Lead or Concessions Coordinator of any concerns.
  • Maintain compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations.
  • Properly store, handle, label, and rotate products using First In, First Out (FIFO) procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment throughout each shift.

5. Teamwork

  • Work collaboratively with bartenders, concession attendants, Floor Leads, and the Concessions Coordinator to ensure efficient operations.
  • Assist coworkers during high-volume service periods.
  • Communicate inventory shortages, equipment concerns, or operational issues promptly.
  • Participate in training and departmental meetings as assigned.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous bartending or hospitality experience highly preferred.
  • Strong customer/guest service skills. Can present a polite and professional demeanor when interacting with guests and colleagues at all times.
  • Can communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Experience operating a point-of-sale (POS) system preferred.
  • Can concentrate and work effectively in a busy and noisy environment.
  • Maintains compliance with all food safety, sanitation, and health regulations at all times.
  • Has active Minnesota Approved Alcohol Server Training Certification (or can obtain this before the start of employment).
  • Can stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Can frequently lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Can bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull throughout the workday.
  • Can work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible schedules based on performance and event needs. Hours are reflective of the dynamic schedule of the theater.
