Job Description
Job Title: Site Reliability Engineer
Company: Synergetics Installations Worldwide
Location: Primarily Remote (Up to 75% Travel)
About Us:
Synergetics is a respected leader in the management consulting industry, specializing in business value creation, mergers and acquisitions, and supply chain management. Since 1975, we have successfully completed over 1,800 engagements, resulting in $9 billion in total EBITDA improvements. We work with a diverse portfolio of clients, including small- to mid-sized enterprises and many Fortune 500 companies. Our core values—honesty, authenticity, respect, trust, and teamwork—guide everything we do.
Site Reliability Engineer
We're looking for a Site Reliability Engineer who wants to build systems, not just keep them running.
You'll help shape Synovate, our manufacturing execution system (MES) platform. The work involves building automation, scaling our deployment infrastructure, and bringing modern engineering practices into industrial environments. You'll sit at the crossroads of software, networking, and manufacturing, designing tools and systems that change how deployments happen.
What you'll do
Build deployment automation
Design Python tools that automate system configuration, device provisioning, and deployment workflows
Create and maintain Ansible playbooks and automation frameworks that scale across client environments
Use AI-assisted development tools like GitHub Copilot and Claude to move faster while keeping code quality high
Build monitoring and diagnostic systems that give real-time visibility into network and device health
Lead deployments in the field
Deploy and configure industrial network infrastructure across client manufacturing sites, including Wi-Fi, routers, VPNs, and IoT devices
Support and troubleshoot Azure cloud deployments
Solve connectivity challenges in complex factory environments
Configure secure networking solutions including WireGuard VPNs and Mikrotik industrial routers
Act as the technical lead during deployments and escalations
Improve infrastructure and DevOps
Apply and evolve SRE practices to improve system resilience and scalability
Build CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions to streamline automation and configuration deployment
Manage device fleets, including inventory tracking and OTA updates
Write clear documentation for systems, tools, and processes
Collaborate across teams
Work with Network Engineering to define and standardize deployment architectures
Document decisions using ADRs and modern documentation practices
Build runbooks and workflows that let other teams run their own deployments
What you bring
Strong foundation in SRE principles and practices
3+ years of experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS)
3+ years writing automation tools and scripts in Python
Solid networking knowledge across TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, Wi-Fi, DNS, and DHCP, with hands-on configuration experience
Experience with Linux, Postgres, and software development best practices
Familiarity with network hardware from Mikrotik, Cisco, Arista, Juniper, Palo Alto, or similar
Experience with WireGuard, IPSec, or other VPN technologies
Background with automation tools like Ansible or Terraform
Comfortable in Linux environments, ideally Debian or Ubuntu
Proficiency with Git and CI/CD workflows, preferably GitHub Actions
Willing to travel to client sites roughly 25 to 35% of the time
Nice to have
Experience troubleshooting IoT devices and sensor connectivity
Background in manufacturing or industrial environments
Network certifications such as CCNA or CCNP
Experience using AI coding tools alongside strong documentation habits
Why this role
You'll get to build systems from scratch, bring in new technologies, and shape how deployments scale as the platform grows. If you like turning manual, painful processes into automated ones and want to see your work running in real factories, this is that kind of role.
Benefits: Medical, Dental, Life & ADD, STD, LTD. 401K match. Unlimited PTO.
Our Commitment:
Synergetics is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We participate in the E-Verify program following offer acceptance. How to Apply: If you are an experienced consultant or have a consulting-type background, we would love to hear from you! Please submit your resume and a cover letter detailing your relevant experience.
