Surgery Housekeeper in Astoria, Oregon at Columbia Memorial Hospital

SEIU Pay Range: $21.20 to $31.40 Dependent on Experience

The Surgery Housekeeper is responsible for providing cleaning services, primarily in the surgery department. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, ensuring staff have the equipment and supplies needed for their daily assignments, responding to service requests, assisting with training, minor equipment maintenance, helping cover sick calls, assisting with quality assurance inspections and other duties as assigned. The day-to-day activities must assure that facilities are maintained in a clean, safe, and comfortable manner in accordance with current Federal, State, local, and facility standards.

Job Requirements
Knowledge of/Skill/Ability to:
Provide exceptional customer service skills. Strong organizational skills and effective in prioritizing tasks. Ability to read and comprehend the various products and equipment used to provide cleaning services to the facility. They must be able to comprehend isolation policies and signage documenting the type of infection they will be dealing with. The ability to identify and follow verbal and/or written instructions. Strong attention to detail. Knowledge of use of MSDS and hazardous material containment is required.

License/Certification
Valid drivers’ license and auto insurance preferred

Education and/or Experience
Previous related experience and familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance
This position requires heavy physical effort (lifts/carry up to 50 lbs); prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking; considerable, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. This position will be exposed to housekeeping/cleaning agents/chemicals; works in precarious or slippery locations and high locations on ladders and scaffolding etc.) Must utilize PPEs appropriately and for long periods of time.
