ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Essential Functions

  • Plan, prepare, and facilitate daily structured learning activities across life skills, vocational readiness, creative arts, leisure, and community integration
  • Implement individualized support strategies that align with each participant's goals and abilities
  • Monitor and document participant progress accurately and on time, including data collection required for Medicaid Waiver compliance
  • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive program environment at all times
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with participants' families and support networks
  • Respond calmly and appropriately to behavioral or medical situations, following ACCESS protocols
  • Assist participants daily living tasks as needed
  • Actively support community integration outings and off-site activities
  • Collaborate with the Lead Instructor and program director to continuously improve programming
  • Maintain required certifications and participate in all required training

Basic Duties

  • Set up and break down activity spaces before and after program hours
  • Take and record daily attendance
  • Assist with participant transportation coordination as needed
  • Prepare materials, supplies, and visual supports for daily lessons and activities
  • Keep program spaces clean, organized, and stocked
  • Complete incident reports and other required documentation promptly
  • Attend staff meetings, trainings, and professional development sessions
  • Support participants during meals, breaks, and transitions between activities
  • Communicate any participant concerns or changes in behavior to the Lead Instructor or program director
  • Assist with curriculum development and activity planning as directed
  • Ensures member safety at all times by following established procedures and using common sense both on and off campus
  • May perform other related or non-related duties, as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is moderate.

  • Hold a degree in special education, human services, social work, or a related field or have direct support experience

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimal travel is required for this position; this travel may include transporting students/clients.
  • ACCESS drivers are required to maintain a valid Driver’s License, current auto liability insurance and registration, a clean driving record, and physical ability to drive to local locations throughout Arkansas.
