Job Summary

The Director of the Pediatric Feeding Program will direct and oversee the assessment and treatment of patients diagnosed with pediatric feeding disorders across the organization, including outpatient, inpatient, and the Intensive Feeding Program and will manage the service delivery continuum for the Pediatric Feeding Program for comprehensive care. The Director of the Pediatric Feeding Program works directly with the CMO, AVP, and other senior leaders to guide and integrate the clinical mission, vision, and quality of the Pediatric Feeding Program as well as the SLP department for the inpatient, outpatient, and long-term care programs. Fosters and facilitates the use of evidence-based practice.

Essential Job Functions
Provides Clinical Leadership to Speech Therapy Department:
Works under the direction of the CMO and AVP.
Links the mission and vision of the Speech Therapy Department to the hospital and organizational goals.
Directs development of ongoing clinical education via orientation, competency and performance improvement initiatives, and roll out of clinical pathways and practice guidelines to assure consistency of care for new and current staff.
Fosters and models a culture that values learning and inquiry.
Models and facilitates clinical problem solving.
Monitors professional practice and leads clinical change as needed within the discipline and or organization.
Utilizes Evidence Based Practice EBP to create trainings for implementation of new EBP initiatives and competencies. Will act as a knowledge broker in providing assistance in the translation of evidence to practice.
Interprets and monitors outcomes, practice effectiveness, and makes recommendations for changes quality improvement initiatives related to best practice.
Leads change for best practice standards and identifies barriers to successful practice and positive patient outcomes and offers solutions.
Facilitates SLP leadership team meetings to foster communication and consistency across sites and service areas.
Collaborates with Directors of Operations and Director of Inpatient Clinical Therapies.
Leads development of educational materials and provides training as appropriate for the discipline as well as overall organizational clinical changes documentation, billing, policy and procedure, regulatory .
Works with the Therapy Education Project Coordinator to assess clinical relevance of courses and determines reimbursement for clinical staff seeking continuing education.
Provides clinical expertise and mentoring to staff treating a variety of patient populations across the continuum of care.
Provides input to speech therapy department supervisors on clinical performance.
Co-manages The Therapy Clinical Ladder program with the Clinical Lead Team.
Approves speech therapy student university contracts.
Oversees CF Clinical Fellow Program Coordinator
Directs Pediatric Feeding Program
Works under the direction of the CMO and AVP.
Links the mission and vision of the Pediatric Feeding Program to the hospital and organizational goals.
Directs collaborative practice between providers delivering care to patients with feeding disorders across the organization and across the system.
Ensures excellence of clinical evaluations, goal development, treatment, and discharge planning through direction and oversight of periodic review and monitoring of documentation.
Oversees Pediatric Feeding Program budgets.
Oversees program development and assists with marketing for Pediatric Feeding Program.
Directs service delivery continuum for Pediatric Feeding Program.
Oversees provision of in-services and training for Pediatric Feeding Program.
Works in collaboration with clinical and operational Feeding Program leaders to meet the needs of the program and of the patients that we serve.

Formal Education and Job Related Experience
Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology degree required.
Minimum of 7 years pediatric experience; 10 or more years of pediatric experience preferred.
Minimum of 7 years of pediatric feeding experience required.
Supervisor and or mentorship experience preferred.
State or National exposure in related field preferred.
Excellent communication, problem solving, presentation and organizational skills required.
Team player who is dependable, self directed and open to others opinions and feedback.
Knowledge of professional practice models and standards.
Ability to develop positive working relationships.
Strong patient and family centered care values and behaviors.

Certification
Certificate of Clinical Competence CCC from American Speech Hearing Association ASHA required.
American Heart Association AHA BLS Provider Certification required.

License
NJ state license in speech language pathology
