Software Project Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Project Manager based in United States.

This is an opportunity to lead complex software engineering engagements across blockchain, financial infrastructure, and other regulated technology environments.
You will sit between clients, engineers, technical leads, and internal stakeholders, turning business objectives into clear and executable delivery plans.
The role combines project ownership, technical understanding, risk management, stakeholder communication, and delivery leadership.
You’ll help teams navigate evolving requirements, dependencies, trade-offs, and ambiguity while keeping projects moving toward successful outcomes.
You’ll work closely with experienced engineers without being expected to write production code yourself.
The environment is remote-first, distributed, collaborative, and focused on solving challenging problems where thoughtful delivery management creates significant leverage.
This role is particularly suited to someone who enjoys creating structure, surfacing risks early, and enabling technical teams to do their best work.

Accountabilities:

Own client-facing software projects from initial planning and kickoff through delivery, production release, and project close.
Translate client objectives and project scope into clear milestones, deliverables, dependencies, timelines, and execution plans.
Partner closely with engineers and technical leads to understand technical requirements, architecture decisions, implementation dependencies, constraints, and delivery risks.
Maintain a clear view of project health across scope, timeline, resources, risks, dependencies, and overall delivery progress.
Identify potential delivery risks and blockers early, develop mitigation strategies, and drive issues toward resolution.
Facilitate project kickoffs, planning sessions, status meetings, retrospectives, and other delivery ceremonies when they add value.
Ensure engineering teams have the context, decisions, requirements, stakeholder access, and information required to execute effectively.
Communicate project status, risks, trade-offs, dependencies, decisions, and changes clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Build and maintain trusted client relationships while protecting engineering teams from unnecessary churn and distractions.
Escalate issues proactively by providing context, available options, and recommended next steps rather than simply reporting problems.
Continuously improve project management processes, documentation, tooling, and delivery practices to make execution more effective and predictable.
Create structure in ambiguous environments, making unknowns and evolving requirements visible before they become delivery risks.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in software project management, technical project management, delivery management, or a comparable role.
Demonstrated experience owning complex software engineering projects from planning and scope definition through successful completion.
Experience working directly with software engineers and technical leads in a software development environment.
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, including planning, development, testing, release, and production delivery.
Ability to understand technical concepts, system dependencies, constraints, and trade-offs and communicate them effectively without needing to be a software engineer.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, combined with the ability to maintain focus on broader business and project outcomes.
Comfortable operating in ambiguous environments where requirements, processes, and solutions may still be evolving.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience collaborating with distributed or remote teams across locations and time zones.
A proactive and accountable approach, with the confidence to raise difficult issues, challenge assumptions, and drive decisions.
Preferred: Experience within a software consultancy, professional services organization, or client-facing engineering environment.
Preferred: Background delivering projects involving blockchain, distributed systems, fintech, financial services, capital markets, or related technologies.
Preferred: Familiarity with digital assets, blockchain infrastructure, or privacy-enabled blockchain ecosystems.
Preferred: Experience delivering software within regulated or enterprise environments.
Preferred: Familiarity with Agile and other delivery methodologies, combined with the judgment to adapt processes to the needs of each project.
