Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Capital Projects Estimator in the United States.
This role is a high-impact opportunity to define and lead the estimating function for large-scale capital projects across a complex North American manufacturing and distribution network. You will serve as the primary expert responsible for translating engineering concepts, technical scopes, and project requirements into accurate, actionable cost estimates that directly inform executive and operational decision-making. Working in a cross-functional environment, you will collaborate closely with engineering, operations, supply chain, and project teams to support facility expansions, warehouse improvements, and industrial modernization initiatives. The position combines strategic ownership with hands-on technical estimating, requiring both deep analytical capability and strong communication skills. As the first dedicated estimator in the organization, you will also play a key role in shaping standards, methodologies, and tools for future scalability. This is a highly visible role where your expertise directly influences investment decisions and capital planning across the enterprise.
- Develop detailed capital cost estimates and high-level budgets for manufacturing, distribution, and facility expansion projects.
- Produce comprehensive quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns across civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and equipment scopes.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, scope documents, and contractor/vendor bids to ensure accuracy and completeness of estimates.
- Build, refine, and maintain estimating methodologies, tools, and cost databases to support organizational consistency and scalability.
- Collaborate with engineering, project management, and business stakeholders to define project scope and ensure aligned financial forecasting.
- Research and validate market pricing, labor rates, and equipment costs to ensure estimates are current, reliable, and defensible.
- Present estimates and cost analyses to leadership with clarity, confidence, and data-driven insights.
- Conduct site visits (approximately 30% travel) to support project scoping and validation across manufacturing and distribution facilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (any discipline) or Construction Management is required.
- 10+ years of combined experience in construction, engineering, estimating, or capital project environments, with estimating as a core professional focus.
- Strong hands-on experience using professional estimating tools such as ProEst, Procore, RSMeans, or equivalent platforms.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project).
- Demonstrated ability to develop scopes of work, analyze bid packages, and evaluate contractor/vendor proposals.
- Experience coordinating cross-functional project teams in capital or industrial project settings.
- Strong analytical, financial, and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical scope into accurate cost models.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex estimates clearly to leadership and stakeholders.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available).
- Experience in industrial, manufacturing, or chemical environments is strongly preferred.
- Competitive salary range of $119,000–$154,000 depending on experience.
- Full-time direct hire position (W2 employment).
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
- 401(k) retirement plan plus pension benefits.
- Company stock options and performance-based bonus opportunities.
- Paid travel expenses and reimbursement for business-related travel.
- Continuing education support and professional development opportunities.
- Gym reimbursement and wellness-focused benefits.
- Flexible remote work arrangement with required site travel (~30%).
- Stable weekday schedule (Monday–Friday, no weekends or on-call).
