This role offers an exciting opportunity to support high-impact federal acquisition and systems engineering initiatives in a fully remote environment. The selected candidate will contribute to mission-critical programs by developing and managing technical and acquisition documentation throughout the full project lifecycle. Working closely with program managers, engineers, and government stakeholders, you will help ensure compliance, operational readiness, and strategic alignment across complex initiatives. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical and documentation skills who thrives in structured, compliance-driven environments. You will play a key role in supporting acquisition decision events, improving program performance, and translating technical information into clear, actionable deliverables. The role also provides the opportunity to collaborate on meaningful projects that directly support national security and government modernization efforts.
- Develop, edit, and maintain acquisition and systems engineering documentation throughout the DHS Acquisition Lifecycle Framework (ALF) and Systems Engineering Life Cycle (SELC).
- Prepare and manage critical program artifacts including Mission Need Statements (MNS), Capability Development Plans (CDP), Operational Requirements Documents (ORD), Acquisition Program Baselines (APB), and Analysis of Alternatives (AOA).
- Support the creation and maintenance of Integrated Logistics Support Plans (ILSP), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMP), Systems Engineering Plans, Risk Management Plans, and technical review documentation.
- Coordinate with program managers, engineers, and subject matter experts to gather, synthesize, and present technical, financial, and schedule-related information accurately.
- Assist in the preparation of Acquisition Decision Event (ADE) documentation packages and ensure all deliverables align with DHS and CBP standards, policies, and compliance requirements.
- Track document revisions, maintain configuration management processes, and ensure adherence to cybersecurity, records management, accessibility, and privacy standards.
- Analyze project requirements and provide recommendations to improve key performance parameters, system attributes, and acquisition processes.
- Contribute to technical reviews, tailoring plans, and lifecycle governance activities while supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 8–11 years of experience in systems engineering, acquisition analysis, or related engineering disciplines.
- Active CBP/DHS suitability clearance required.
- Strong understanding of DHS and CBP acquisition frameworks, including ALF, MD-102, and SELC methodologies.
- Experience supporting federal acquisition programs and producing technical documentation for government agencies.
- Familiarity with IEEE standards, including IEEE 1012 and related systems engineering documentation standards.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical information into clear deliverables.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, revisions, and deadlines simultaneously.
- DAU or DAWIA acquisition certifications are considered a plus.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in a remote work environment.
