This role is an opportunity to lead and scale a high-impact data engineering function responsible for powering critical data infrastructure in a fast-growing, product-driven environment.
You will oversee the design and execution of scalable data platforms, pipelines, and analytics systems that support business intelligence, operational workflows, and product insights.
The position combines technical leadership with people management, requiring strong hands-on expertise in modern data engineering practices and cloud-native architectures.
You will work closely with product, analytics, engineering, and business teams to translate requirements into robust and reliable data solutions.
A key part of the role is building a culture of ownership, engineering excellence, and continuous improvement within the data team.
You will also play a strategic role in defining the long-term vision for data architecture and governance across the organization.
This is a high-ownership leadership role where your work will directly influence data reliability, scalability, and decision-making across the company.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing data engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
- Define and drive the technical roadmap for scalable data infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform, ensuring reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Architect and oversee data pipelines, data models, warehouses, and lakehouse systems supporting analytics and operational use cases.
- Establish engineering best practices around code quality, testing, observability, documentation, and incident response.
- Partner with product, analytics, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable technical solutions and delivery plans.
- Own data governance, quality, lineage, and compliance practices to ensure trustworthy and secure data systems.
- Manage execution planning, sprint prioritization, and delivery timelines while balancing short-term needs with long-term platform evolution.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration and communicate technical decisions, risks, and trade-offs clearly across all levels of the organization.
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, analytics engineering, or platform engineering roles.
- 2+ years of experience in engineering management or technical team leadership.
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building scalable data platforms and pipelines.
- Deep expertise in Google Cloud Platform services such as BigQuery, Dataflow, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and Cloud Composer/Airflow.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python, Java, or Scala).
- Experience with ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, warehouse design, and workflow orchestration.
- Strong understanding of data quality, monitoring, lineage, governance, and production SLAs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Nice to have: experience in healthcare, fintech, SaaS, or regulated industries with exposure to compliance frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, or GDPR.
- Nice to have: familiarity with tools such as dbt, Looker, Airbyte, Fivetran, Terraform, Kubernetes, or Docker, and real-time streaming architectures.
