The Opportunity
The Lead Banquet Server is a key leadership role within our Food & Beverage team, responsible for delivering flawless event experiences across all banquet and special event functions at Moonlight Basin. This position combines polished hands-on service with on-floor team leadership, acting as the primary point person for banquet execution while directly supervising and mentoring banquet service staff. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in fine dining or private club service, exceptional attention to detail, and a genuine passion for creating memorable moments for our members and guests.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Event Leadership & Team Supervision
- Conduct on-site Banquet Event Order (BEO) meetings prior to each event, communicating setup requirements, service flow, timing, and special requests to the team
- Supervise and direct banquet service staff throughout all phases of the event, ensuring timely, accurate, and polished execution per BEO specifications
- Train banquet staff in proper setup, service, and breakdown procedures, reinforcing Moonlight Basin standards at every step
- Delegate cleaning, resetting, and breakdown responsibilities to staff throughout and following each event
- Enforce uniform, grooming, and dress code standards among the banquet team
- Assume Opening or Closing Manager responsibilities when assigned
- Communicate any maintenance, equipment repair, or safety concerns to management promptly
Guest Service & Member Relations
- Greet event contacts upon arrival and maintain a visible, professional presence throughout each event
- Deliver warm, attentive, and highly polished service to all members and guests
- Anticipate guest needs and respond to requests, questions, and concerns promptly and professionally
- Resolve guest conflicts with composure and good judgment; escalate unresolved issues to management immediately
- Demonstrate thorough knowledge of all menu items including ingredients, preparation methods, presentation standards, serving temperatures, and portion sizes
- Take food and beverage orders where applicable, utilizing suggestive selling techniques
- Ensure all dietary restrictions, allergies, and special requests are accurately communicated to the culinary team and fulfilled
Setup, Service & Breakdown
- Oversee and assist with full event room setup including linens, place settings, glassware, centerpieces, and food and beverage stations per BEO specifications
- Ensure all food and beverage is presented in accordance with banquet order standards before and throughout service
- Execute all service styles including plated, buffet, reception, and passed service with precision and professionalism
- Control guest checks and secure proper payment where applicable
- Maintain strict control over all company-owned equipment; ensure all items are properly cleaned and stored securely after each event
- Complete all assigned side work and opening/closing duties thoroughly and on time
Additional Responsibilities
- Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and responsible alcohol service standards at all times
- Maintain a polished, professional appearance in accordance with Moonlight Basin’s grooming and uniform standards
- Project a positive, professional image of Moonlight Basin in all interactions
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Events Manager

Qualifications
- Valid Driver's License
- Minimum three years of food and beverage experience, with at least one to two years in a supervisory or lead service role
- Prior experience in a luxury hotel, resort, or private club banquet environment strongly preferred
- Thorough knowledge of food and beverage service standards including plated, buffet, and reception service styles
- Familiarity with Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and event execution processes
- Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation, and handling
- Basic math skills and ability to handle payment and operate a point-of-sale system
- Strong knowledge of wine, spirits, and food and beverage pairings preferred
- Must meet the minimum age requirement to serve alcoholic beverages
- Proficient in reading, writing, and communicating clearly in English
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) preferred
- Reliable, punctual, and available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Must comply with Moonlight Basin’s Dress and Grooming policies

Working Conditions
This role is performed primarily in indoor event and dining spaces, with moderate temperatures and variable noise levels depending on event size and setup. Outdoor events may require working in varying weather conditions for up to six to ten hours. Work hours vary based on the event calendar and will include evenings, weekends, and holidays. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.
Physical Requirements
This is a physically demanding role. The Lead Banquet Server must be able to:
- Stand and walk for extended periods of up to 12 hours per shift
- Lift and carry trays, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 15 lbs. regularly and up to 40 lbs. occasionally
- Bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and stretch to set up, serve, and break down event spaces
- Carry and balance dishware and glassware throughout service
- Perform repetitive motions including carrying, pouring, and placing with precision
- Navigate event spaces including tight setups, outdoor terrain, and high-traffic areas
- Communicate clearly and hear spoken information in a busy event environment
- Maintain manual dexterity for writing, operating equipment, and handling service items
