We are currently offering up to a $5,000 sign-on bonus for Heavy Equipment Field Service Technician new hires. $2,500 is payable after 90 days of employment, and the remaining $2,500 is payable after 180 days of employment.

Job Title: Field Service Technician
Location: Fredericksburg, Virginia
Shift: 1st
Starting Compensation Range: $35.00 - $49.94 per hour
Minimum of three years' relevant heavy equipment field experience is required to be eligible for the $5,000 sign-on bonus. Candidates with less than 3 years’ heavy equipment field experience are eligible for a $2,000 sign-on bonus. Bonuses are made in 2 equal installments at 90 days and 180 days of employment.
What You Will Do:
- Apply troubleshooting techniques and determine proper repair procedures on all assigned work orders
- Service, diagnose and repair all machine components and systems, including engine/components air conditioning units; change hoses; repair cylinders, buckets, and booms; at customer’s jobsite
- Disassemble, inspect and determine parts needed. Reassemble to factory specifications
- Interact with customers and answer repair-related questions as required. Refer non-repair related questions to supervisor
- Perform minor electrical and computer repairs
- Interpret and utilize information from operating, maintenance and service manuals/bulletins
- Prepare parts requisitions, parts returns, accurate and complete service reports, and other necessary reports and forms
- Clearly and concisely document all work and repairs completed in a timely manner
- Maintain work area, tools and equipment to promote a clean and safe environment
- Perform various other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience performing mechanical service and repairs to Caterpillar and related competitive equipment
- Excellent troubleshooting and analytical skills
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Knowledge of engines, transmissions, and other related components
- Must have excellent mechanical aptitude
- Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent driving record and ability to obtain a CDL
- Ability to become DOT certified with DOT Medical Card
- Proficient in use of technical software, databases and manuals

Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
- Frequently required to sit
- Regularly lift and/or more up to 70 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
